For me, BOSS Tom has that distinction in the tss category. Lead however-winchester has that nailed down with that longbeard XR load.

Longbeard XR is awesome ammo. All I need in my 12 gauge.

There’s no Question that Winchester Turkey Loads are the Best

Remington Nitro Turkey Patterns Dam Good Too

I’m getting a Refund from the District of Corruption this year so I’ve decided to go with the Best 14 Dollar a Round Ammo out there

So which is it out of a 655 Choke

Been using TSS shot in a 410 for turkey hunting for 4 years. Its the best load since buffered shot....I think with it we have achieved the pinical of shot performance for turkey and long range duck and goose hunting !

Also Cabelas Herter's TSS shells are made by Winchester and for me perform much better than any other brand of TSS I have used !

TSS ammo is very expensive and you have some people bad mouthing it on the price....but really how many shells do you shoot turkey hunting....shoot a few cheep lead loads to get your sights on target then a couple TSS to fine tune your set ready to kill a bird ! Next year shoot a couple to check your gun !

One thing to remember don't use a gun with TSS load and not have a dot or iron sights to use you will be very disappointed missing just using a shotguns rib !

TSS is fine in sub gauges but is not needed in 20-410 stuff. Lead longboard will kill plenty well.

Also, TSS is absolute hell on your teeth... I'd rather chew on lead than find another #9 TSS from an errant shot. You need to have your account balance available to put crowns on your teeth. It is much worse than steel...

Good Point

A 14 Dollar a Round Ammo could turn into Thousand of Dental Work

Both Expensive

Maybe I’ll stick with the Winchester Extended Range Ammo

If Winchester could have made their TSS loads just a bit cheaper then all the other manufacturers then they would have really have done something. I was fortunate, and quickly found the right combination of Long beard XR, choke and gun combo. That provides a deadly combination out to 50 yards. I was able to avoid the TSS worn hole!

Well said Sir. TSS is just too freaking expensive, period. If a company could load that damn stuff and sell it for about what Longbeards cost or a little more expensive, it might be feasible. I shoot Longbeard XR in a Mossberg 500 with an old Hastings .640 or a Hastings .665 choke. Both shoot about the same. I've killed birds at over 40 yards cleanly. I'm not saying longer shots are the thing to do because calling one in to 30 yards or closer is awesome . But, they will definitely do the job.

TSS works very well but the cost is my issue. But, for many it is not an issue. It sells and the price will only go one directions. I believe almost all shot is now imported, much of it from Mexico!. All of it, and with tariffs being what they are busting a cap on just one TSS shell could cost you 20 bucks or more! Yikes! Long beard XR for me!

Most TSS will work great but nitro has been best for my buddies that don’t load.
As states before buy what you will buy the couple shells a year is the cheapest thing about the hunt

I have used TSS and it's awesome stuff but for me it's not needed. I'll stick with 3in Win Longbeard XR #5 and a Indian Creek Black Diamond tube. Out to 45 yds turkeys don't stand a chance if you do your part and at 22 dollars for 10, it can't be beat

We use, and like the Winchester TSS. Yeah it's not cheap, but we buy and use it!

TSS is the newest death ray for turkeys and it will work. Thankfully Long Beard XR lead is still made and easy to find.

I've been using the Longbeard XR for lead for years and it's been fantastic, but I hunted a non toxic zone this year and used some Fiocchi golden turkey tss 12 ga #7 and was really impressed on patterning out of Carlson Longbeard XR choke and then spanked a Tom at 48 yards, the think never flinched looked like it got hit by a train. I picked it up at fast ammo at little over $8 shell not including shipping

Have used pretty much every brand, all have merit but the best is federal ( but definitely not cheap). The big difference in them and others is their flight control wads ( they were the first company that marketed TSS several years ago. Have patterned Winchester but haven't taken a bird with it.

Is anyone aware of a shotshell manufacturer that has copied the Longbeard XR recipe? By that I mean the shot encased in a hard clear polymer resin buffer? I am not aware of it. They seem to be the best or should I say the most popular of the lead turkey ammo?
