Cast would work too, but I'm not setup for casting at the moment. In the process of remodeling a house...

I had the opportunity to get out on Saturday to fire another 3 Red Dot loads with the 69 grain SMK bullets.

2.8gr - 951 fps
2.9gr - 1020 fps
3.0gr - 1040 fps

It stuck me as odd that 2.7gr averaged 966 fps and 2.8gr averaged 951 fps.

I have a K Hornet barrel for the Contender. Little fired, was thinking about threading and using my cans. I was wondering the very subject of loads. Sounds like some Blue Dot or Red dot is in order. The cast bullet will be necessary. Bullet supply is just too tenuous. Up, down, ....... I try to find scrap lead where ever I can find it. Would cast some 224s today but have to smoke a pig butt for Mothers' Day. Be careful Brothers, RZ.

With all tis talk of suppressed 22 Hornets, I think I will thread my 22" Bullberry K Hornet for the Dead Air Mask. It's a 14" twist, so will just be spinning the 40gr pills. Reduced loads will still be supersonic, but should be hearing safe. Would like to find a mold that would work for powder coating.

Interesting project. As mentioned cast bullets would be great for this. Also, no need to touch the lands with a rimmed cartridge. It headspaces off the rim. You may actually be forming cases too long and creating problems down the road. There in lies the glory of a rimmed case.
Good Luck,
Rick
