How many days a week do you shoot?
How many arrows per session?
After a decade away from archery, I’ve been shooting pretty much daily, usually 24-32 arrows. 2-3 days a week I’ll get in 2 sessions a day. My best shooting is probably the 2nd - 5th group of 4. Reading online people suggesting 50-75 arrows at a time up to 80-100, 3-5 times a week.
My trashed shoulders couldn’t do it if I wanted too, wondering if that’s actually what most guys are doing?

I shoot probably 30-36 arrows 4ish days a week. I have my archery range set up in the side yard and all I have to do is grab the bow and step outside. Current setup gives me 40 yards without moving anything. Figured the best way for me to practice like I want to is to make it super easy and convenient. Grab my bow and step outside after dinner a couple days a week and usually the kids shoot with me.

In the winter, I shoot at an indoor range 3-4 times a week, 30-40 arrows. When it’s warm enough to shoot outside, I shoot 5-6 times a week 30-40 arrows per session. I’m 74 years old and have bowhunted 47 years. There’s no way I’d shoot 80-100 arrows per session. And I didn’t do that when I was 34 years old. I think a much smaller number of shots with good form and accuracy is better than pounding 100 arrows down range.
I enjoy the shooting and I bow hunt, a lot.

15-20 arrows with good form and follow-though will get you further than 80-100 arrows with body fatigue and poor form.

Your 2-5 groups are good because you’ve warmed up the muscle memory a bit, and have settled in into the process - past the fifth - fatigue is creeping in at levels you probably don’t notice (but your body does) and concentration is probably slipping a bit too.

There are days I’ll shoot a few arrows and know it’s not a long session day (good or bad) and a day once in a while that it’s all smooth and easy.

25 or so a few days a week from snow melt through early October.

1 per day at 40 yards during the season, no warm up, no do overs.

When I built my house, one of the mandatory things was a basement long enough to shoot indoors..now I’m blessed to have a 20 yard indoor range year around. That said, it’s generally used only when the weather doesn’t cooperate. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it better to slowly ramp up my shooting from May to September. Once season starts in October I shoot a little less, but I do shoot one shot before every hunt just to keep that muscle memory intact. As one poster above mentioned, perfect practice with fewer arrows is much better than a large number of arrows with poor form. I focus not on the number of shots, but instead on making a perfect or nearly perfect shot each time. And frankly, who cares if you can shoot 25 or 50 or 100 arrows each session when nearly every hunt is 1 shot. This is for compound shooters at least…I know the trad guys need to build muscle and lots of shots does that.

Definitely recognize why, just wondering if I was in the minority. I usually shoot til groups start opening up enough that it’s a waste of time then quit. I’m fairly consistently shooting 2 1/2”groups at 20 yds so feeling good with the progress. They were more like 4” a couple weeks ago. Haven’t shot but one group at 30 yet, figuring I need to get things settled in and consistent at 20 first.
Doubt I’ll ever shoot more than 35 since I wouldn’t try a shot on game past that. Looking for a recurve to play with.

The first shot without warm-up will tell you everything. That is the one that counts come deer season.
I always have at least one Judo tipped arrow in the quiver of my recurve. Never hurts to kill a leaf before the deer arrives.

Probably 100 arrows in the last two years with my compound.

Shot about 100 the month before the season started with my recurve last year.

Plan to start shooting very soon to get ready for the Sept opener this year. Picked up two dozen broadheads and should have a dozen arrows to start.
