I’ve worn Kenetrek, Meindel, and scheme from your list. Schnees don’t have enough toe box. Kenetrek are best for me with Meindel a close second & either will outlast 3 or 4 pairs of most other brands. Kenetreks are a bit stiffer than Meindels.

Thanks for posting that! I love my Mountain Extremes and have wanted to add a lighter pair for warmer weather. Order placed...

For those with a wide forefoot, the Meindl Guffert is wide in the toe and narrow in the heel. Unlike most US boots which are wide fore and aft, which allows the heel to slip around.

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

For those saying try them all it isn't happening around here. Hard to fund all makes and models in stock.

Scheels here shows a lot of what I am interested in but none in store. Midway may and I can call to see if they allow trying on in store or if they just have merchandise pick up in store and no ability to let someone try them on.

I have been more than impressed with my discontinued Danner USMC boots that I picked up for less than a hundred! For what you are doing I do not think you could beat the price or quality!

I just re-read the original post.
The Kennetrek Mountain Extremes are probably a lot more boot than you need.
They are Mountaineering quality boots.
Save some money, you don't need a $500 pair of boots for turkey or whitetail hunting.
OTOH, in serious mountain hunting your feet are everything never compromise.

Good to know on the Kenetreks.

This is why I asked.

I've got;

Crispis; WY 2 and Nevada GTX
Kenetrek Mountain Extremes

and an old pair of the Cabela's Meindl.

Recently I've switched over to Crispi's as they just seem to fit my feet well and require little to no break-in. My favorite "all-around" is the Nevada GTX.

Best advice so far is to try as many different brands and styles. Just went through a load of boots to try for an upcoming western hunt. Tried Kenetrek, Crispi, Schnee, Zamberlan, Hanwag, Lowa, and Meindl. I liked Crispi the best but even within their line only a couple felt good on MY feet. Second was the Meindl

My credit card didn’t like it but all had excellent return policies

I have Xtratuf boots that I wear in the boat. Be the absolute last pair of boots that I’d wear walking in the woods and I have tried to use them tracking

I know they're not on your list but I've had real good luck with Danner boots.
As far as uninsulated boots, I bought a pair of these last year and I really like them. They fit me true to size and very comfortable. https://www.cabelas.com/p/danner-recurve-waterproof-hunting-boots-for-men

I just replaced a pair of the Cabela’s Meindl with a pair of Kenetrek. Midway has them 1/2 off if in your size.
Hell of a buy but standard width.

I was able to get a pair of 10D last Saturday. They had them in EE width too. Must have sold out.

Take a look at Thorogood boots also.
Been wearing them for 25 years. Mine are insulated, but they make em either way. Lightweight, water proof, American made, 8" tall, wear great.
Solid soles, not hollow like many brands.
This is also the boot most mailman wear.

When I was hunting and guiding 100 days a year ago pair of any boots would last me a season. Now they go two or three. Depending on the terrain I have La Sportiva, Hannah, Lowa or for gnarly terrain, Salewas
If you aren't hunting in real extreme country the mountaineering boots are heavy and overkill. My Lowas are much lighter and comfortable.
My Salewa are best used with crampons. My La Sportivas best boots overall I have ever had.
Kennetreks would roll my ankles.

I used to go through a pair of boots about one per year. I worked in the woods on the west coast, from California to S.E. Alaska. I liked Meindl for quite a while, but the last few years have been in Kenetrek. "Best" would be impossible for me to define. I favor the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme because I have narrow feet, and these are the best fit for me that I have ever found. I have 4 pairs of them right now. One has been re-soled to add caulks for work (I no longer do that type of work, but maybe for hunting). One pair is at Kenetrek for new soles. One pair is here, pretty much ready for new soles, and the 4th pair is only about a month old. These will probably last the rest of my life, no more active than I am these days. Buying a "lifetime supply" of goods is different when you get up in years a little bit :-)

Agree on American made Dinner quality BUT I could never get a pair that would not eat up the back of my heels with blisters, etc. Should have tried duct tape with them as I am not sure I ever got a pair completely broken in.

No such issues with old Red wings and the newer Meindl's. The latter fit like gloves from day one. If it's not broke, don't fix it (for me!)

Crispi uninsulated Nevadas are what I settled on. Not too hot to be a driver and with legit merino wool socks you won’t get cold feet when watching. Everything is a compromise when you drive deer.
