A hat on at the table or a mouth open while eating would get you picking yourself up off the floor from my grandma's back hand. You would only make that mistake just one time. Then she would beat your adz with a long handled wood stirring spoon to make very sure you remembered the lesson. You did not reach into a food bowl either, you would get your fingers broken by her wood spoon.

I do a lot of "chew N show" whenever the neighbor's young kids are around. Most entertaining when we have a colorful array of foods to ingest.
Cookie, however, has not been impressed with such for several decades.
