I have a holster mounted on the wall outside of the shower. I put my gun in it when I shower. A person can never be too paranoid. I do the same. After the last bunch of morons tried to harass us I ended up building a moat around the house. Still waiting on the permit for the moat gators. Piranhas work better

I'm actually typing out this post with the barrel of two pistols.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition and we'll stay free.

I have guns in my home, but I don't walk around armed. If I lived somewhere that was necessary, I would move. To? I know of a farmer that came home from a doctors appt one day. Found a methhead crashed out in his bed. 10 miles from town, all farmers around him so it's not like he lived in a "bad" area. Ever heard of home invasions? Many happen in the middle of nowhere. Some people prefer to keep their heads firmly planted in the ground. More likely to get hit by lightning or killed in a car accident on the way to town. Best stay home and hide in your locked, concrete reinforced rubber room if you want to be really safe. In 2023 I taught a CC class. My information from The State Department of Public Safety said that there were over 300 home invasions and 1200+ serious assaults(48 were homicides) in this state in one year and only one struck by lightning and it wasn't fatal. That's in Iowa!

I carry a gun every where in cities, or traveling, or in the pasture, in the country it’s not for protection from humans, it’s the coyotes, bobcats, coons. I have guns everywhere in house because I have coyotes come right up on decks looking for our little dogs, bobcat other day in barn looking for my cats, killed 10 coons around house in one week, you never know. Can’t imagine how bad it is for some of y’all in some of these really nice areas you have worked so hard to have, being infested by all colored trash!!!

That's in Iowa! I don't know nor have I heard of anybody that's been the victim of a home invasion in my rural County. There have been a few forcible entries that I'm aware of. They always make the local paper. All were domestic dispute/violence situations of one sort or another. I buried a bunch that were killed in car accidents and know of one that was struck by lightning. Heck I even knew one that was killed mowing his lawn when his lawn tractor rolled over him. I've been in three serious car accidents in my life. Nobody has ever tried to invade my home. I do keep guns handy in my home for pests and so far that's all they've ever been needed for. I certainly don't feel the need to carry one around all day from room to room or into the shower with me.

The odds are that I will not be a victim of a home invasion, or an attack on my person or family. But ....
... they do occur. If I or my family are suddenly the object of an attack, I am no longer part of the odds: I am now part of the statistics.
My thoughts on self defense. Others may vary.

1 1/2 armed. Fell and buggered up my right shoulder a while back. Not much good above shoulder level right now. Fortunately my fly is lower down. left handed gets not-so-good..
I don't usually actively carry at home, except if something untoward is happening. Like a wolf crapping on the lawn after antagponizing the dog, suspicious vehicles lurking, the like.
But something loaded isn't very far, yard or house. Should have time to reach it. Probably. Maybe.

Either would work.

I would never wear a gun in my house. In AK I don't even lock my house doors at night and my keys are in the vehicles with the doors unlocked.

Fascinating thread...
Cannot believe it is still going.
Different question... In the past 35+/- days since this thread was started...
How many times have you dropped the hammer on said gun(s) (vermin or intruder)?
