Went out to South jetty in Newport Oregon Thursday night for black Rockfish. Full moon and perfect tides for casting Clouser’s to the jetty.
We had a great night, 3 people in the boat caught over 50 fish between 7 and 11:30pm. I caught over 20 myself. We kept our limits of 4 each, so I came home with 8 fillets.
These fish fight like crazy for their size. Truly a lot of fun on a fly rod.
I try to post a couple of pictures but I haven’t had much luck recently. 🙄

Before and after Clouser. Looks like it was gang raped. 😂

They’re right up there for me as well.

How do you cook them? I can’t make them taste good.

DaninAlaska showed me a simple recipe that's become my go to.
a little olive oil, sprinkle with cajun seasoning, (slap yo Mama) then some bread crumbs.
Broil it until the fillet pops.

I like using them for ceviche or taco's too.

Ceviche is using the Easy button. Egg/Panko dice size chunks and make some fish tacos - YUMM!!!

I much prefer Blacks to Duskies while up in AK. None of that poopy black crap nonsense.

But Blues look damned near the same as Blacks, and are even better. I'm not sure how far north they go though.
