I qualified with and carried the M15 when I was an aircrew member. I like them over the M9 Beretta... that's not true, I hated the M9 and love the M15. And those Air Force marked M15s go for big bucks among collectors. A run of the mill M15 in 98% condition goes for about $300, but if it has Air Force markings, the same gun goes for about $900.

Nice revolver, congrats!
Please tell what a Dirty Harry contest is? Thank you. That's an action shooting game some folks at my shooting club invented. Only double action revolvers are allowed, and they have to be stock, i.e., no race guns. You need three speed loaders. You go from station to station as fast as you can, drawing from you holster and knocking down variously shaped and sized steel plates. Each station is set up differently. There are about ten stations, as I recall. Fun game, and very popular at my club. We use the Cowboy Action Shooting range for this. It's designed to help you develop practical fighting skills with the double action revolver. That could be fun!!

Yes, it is. I entered one cold once, i.e., never having done a practice run through. I scored somewhere in the middle of contestants. I used a Model 10 .38 Special, no adjustable sights. The Combat Masterpiece should be an improvement. They are having a run through practice session day after Easter, and the formal match is the following Sunday. I intend to attend both. Should be fun.

Some units (fewer) had shub nosed S&Ws. I believe they were M15s too. Find a USAF M15, issue shoulder holster, and some issue tracer rounds and you have a collectors item for sure.

PS My NRA Defensive Handgun instructor, back in 1980, had a two inch Model 15. It was one of the guns he used to teach. I shot it quite a lot, and liked it.

The Real Hawkeye,
I won't pick up a USAF collector but would like to have a 4" M15. I like the way that it feels and balances in my hand.

I bought my first M-15 back in the mid 70's. Shot a hell of a lot of PPC with it. I bobbed the hammer spur and put in a bulls eye spring kit. A few years ago I bought 2 more M-15's. These were police trade ins some wear on them but they don't appear to have been shot out. These also have the heavy bbls unlike my first one. I really have enjoyed these as much as any gun in my collection.

I looked back and can't see where I congratulated you on this. Sorry 'bout that, as I read the thread several days ago, seems like. Anyway...Congrats! Looks like a winner. I look back and can only remember having one model 19. It was a nickel one and was the second centerfire handgun I owned. Four-incher. Great guns.
