It's too slow. The slowest IMR useable is 4007SSC.

I use 57 grains of RL15 under 286grns Barnes X and that works very well. Originally I think it was Ray Atkinson off AR who suggested RL 15 and it seems to work very well for a number of different people.

Speer suggest a starting load of 60grains to a max of 64grains of IMR4350 for there 270grain SP, but I was unable to find a load that produces a decent group with that powder..

Pete

Yea,I've seen that RL-15 seems to be THEE powder for the 9.3x62. I saw Speers load data and noticed they got decent velocity. I have a full can of IMR4350 so I figured I'd check with the troops for some input. Taking my rifle to UPS in a hour to send it out for a rebore so I've got plenty of down time for input on accurate load data. Thanks guys.

Ramshot BigGame is also an excellent powder for the 9.3x62. It produces better accuracy and velocity than R-15 in my CZ.

Thanks Steve,
You guys are one step ahead of me. I just was going through a bunch of notes I've taken in the past months on the 9.3x62 and found one about BigGame where John Barsness used it in his Medium Mediums article. Got a .79" group with a 286 Partition in a CZ550. I could handle that!

My chronograph says RL-15 gives the highest velocity by about a 100 FPS over anything else I have tried..I get 2520 FPS with a 286 gr. Nosler and 2400 FPS plus a tad with the 320 gr. Woodleigh. I shoot 10 take out the high and low and average the remaining 8....

I will also advise that IMO the 270 gr. Speer is the worst bullet I have ever use in the 9.3x62, it is just too soft and comes apart on about anything..

Yea,I had read other experiences with the Speers but just bought them for something cheap to start out shooting this rifle with. I'll end up with Partitions just like with my other rifles. Might bust a deer later in the year on damage permits with them though.
What barrel length you shooting out of Ray?

So far Reloader 15 and Norma 203B with 286 Partition has done well for me. Just got some 250 grain Accubonds to test.

My CZ did not like the 270 grain speer. Another cheap one I want test is the 286 grain Hornady when I can find them.

Steve, where did you find load data for the Ramshot Big Game powders? Looked on their web site and they don't show anything.
