Still searching for a great load in my .223 Rem. After reading about some problems with H335, I'm now leaning toward H322. My current load is 25.5gr of IMR 4895, CCI primers, Win. Brass and 50 grain Hornady SPSX's. I usually get several shot touching and a flyer which opens the group to just under an inch at 100yds. Misses are usually vertical, which has me thinking my powder charges are varying a bit. - I'm using a RCBS powder measure and the IMR 4895 is a long grained powder and does not measure smoothly - and I'm about out of it. What's the low down on H322? Worth a try or not? Thanks.

H322 is one of the best powders for the .223. I use Accurate Arms 2015 with WSR primers, Speer 50gr TNT over 25.2grs and get excellent groups. Both of these powders are very close in burn rate. The Hornady manual lists 25.2grs of H322 as max. And they both meter a ton better than IMR4895. You wont be dissapointed with either one of these powders.

H322 is one of my old favorites for 50-55 grain bullets in the .223. Most of the time I load 23 to 24.5 grains.

H322 has also been a favorite of the benchrest crowd and is the reason I started using it. I keep H4895 around to load .308's and tried it a few times in .223,... but didn't get very good results.

Recently, I've been shooting Varget in the .223's and gotten very good results with the Sierra 53 grain Match HP's.

Everybody seems to get good results with Varget. I ignored it for a long time in deference to my old stand by's,.. but it really seems to work well in the chamberings that are appropriate to it's burning rate.

I tend to find my 223s like 25 grains of H 322 with any bullet weight from 30 to 55 grains...

I use military brass for the most part, so my load is a bit lighter for about the same results. It's 24.0 grains of H322 under any decent 50-gr bullet. Standard primer of your choice. Very accurate, easy to clean, low blast/fireball.

.

Ramshot's TAC is great. Clean burning, very accurate, and non fouling, I have been told that TAC has a copper inhibitor in it that reduces copper fouling.

Benchmark and 10x are also great powders.

I'm pleased to see others rely on H322 in the mid range weight bullets 'cuz its been my standard as well, although, the manuals don't often priortize it.

I have several 223s from 22" to 26" barrels and all of them have performed with top accuracy and velocity with 50gr bullets and lighter. WW cases, Rem 7 1/2 primers. But, allow this note, my loads are above max, yet, no signs of pressure and long case life have been the norm. Approach with caution.

ALL of my 223s seem to really love 25 grains of H 322, with any bullet weight from 60 on down....even if it is listed as over max.. they seem to digest them and give one hole groups on the target if Seafire's trigger finger does it's part...

I maintain always, that it is hard to find a bad powder for a 223.... but of the best ones, H 322 has to be near the top of the list...it would be one of my first choices...

30 grains of it in a 22.250 case also turns in some impressive results...
