This comes courtesy of St. Gunner at HuntAmerica, but here it is.
Lowes has decided to post inaccurate biased tips on their homepage about guns. First it was Rosie and K-mart, then the pig and ACE, now we have to deal with a company that supplies the construction trade slandering our way of life.
I don’t think so.
http://www.lowes.com/Lowes/howTo/howtoDocument.asp?ID=excuses
Yep be sure to call this 800 number will cost them
24 hours a day!
1-800-44LOWES

I think its interesting that they say that homes with firearms are more dangerous for children than homes without. Guess whose statistics those are? I guess they also forgot to mention that its the idiot leaving a gun unsecured or playing with a gun that is really dangerous. First, they say get rid of guns, then that if you must keep guns store them secured and the ammo secured separately. Why didn't they just say the latter?

Thank you for you advice on gun saftey. As a gunowner, and an American Citezen concerned for our Second Amendment Rights, I wanted to let you know that from now on, my questions concerning home improvement will be addressed to the NRA, and my purchases made at Home Depot.
Copy of the E-mail i sent them.
I plan to call the 800 number too. It's their dime!
7mmbuster

Gee, a Home and Building Supply store offering advice on guns and gun safety. If you are going to be so bold, at least get your facts correct. Its akin to a gun store offering advice on plumbing or deck building, don't you think? Unless the misleading drivel that you have on this topic is corrected or removed, I will return to Home Depot for my building needs. I am also an NRA member and will forward your Homepage to them.
Also did the e-mail thing (Copy above) badger.

I sent them a nasty gram and told them that I will be canceling my account there and will be spending my money at a place that does not belittle law abiding citizens. I also posted the comment on a web site here in Michigan. There are 16,000 mambers in this coalition so I am sure that there will be buku more nasty grams heading their way.
Keeb

Just got this from Lowes:
Dear Valued Lowe's Customer,
Thank you for your recent email regarding Lowe's Home Improvement
Warehouse The following addresses concerns expressed by yourself and the
NRA about certain firearm safety-related content on Lowe's web site and
the web site of our non-profit home safety organization, Lowe's Home
Safety Council.
Lowe's is a home improvement retailer, and it is certainly not our
intent to take a public policy position on the overall issue of Second
Amendment rights in the U.S. The information in question was provided to
Lowe's by a third party, the Consumer Federation of America, who had
obtained it from Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. We
understand that certain elements of that information may be viewed as
being subjective; therefore, it has been removed from our web site.
Frankly, a more careful reading of that information by our staff, before
it was posted, may have eliminated this issue before it occurred.
As the world's second largest home improvement retailer, Lowe's sells
many of the products used to make America's homes a safer place to live.
For that reason, we're very proud of our efforts to promote home safety
awareness among our customers and the public at large. However, as it
relates to firearms, Lowe's position is to simply encourage the safe
storage of firearms in and around the home - period.
Thanks again for making us aware of your thoughts on this issue. We
certainly regret any confusion the information on our web site may have
caused.
If you would like to discuss this issue further with a staff member of
the NRA, Bill Parkerson- Director of Research and Information can be
reached at (703)267-1187.
Sincerely,
Lowe's Customer Care
Lowe's Home Improvement
_____________________________________________
Havn't been able to get their sight to see if their faulty info has been corrected.
7mmbuster

Here's what I got back from Lowes and my original message:
Dear Valued Lowe's Customer,
Thank you for your recent email regarding Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse. You state that homes with firearms are more dangerous than those without. The research that you based that assertion on may have been flawed. It failed to account for the thousands of times a firearm in the home prevents harm to that household.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,7217,00.html
Please reconsider the language you have used. Perhaps you could replace it with "Households with firearms face a slight risk of injury or death. That risk can be reduced dramatically by practicing proper firearms safety. If you have a gun in your home, obtain firearms safety training and always store guns safely."
I thank you for your concern about home safety. Please consider how you present your information in the future. It might be a good idea to get a second opinion instead of relying on biased information from your anti-gun partners.

Got the same e-mail from them. Just shows that the anti-gun nuts aren't the only ones that can get results through collective action. badger.

I got the same canned reply also. At least they admitted that they dont bother to check their facts before they print their information. Kinda makes you wonder about the other products Lowes sells. Do they take their information from a third party without verifying it? Maybe this will be a wake up call for them. But I kinda boubt it.
Keeb

It was quite refreshing to see the same reply in my email from Lowes. It appears that the NRA has been after them as well, gleaning from the text of the reply.
Home Depot, if I recall correctly, is about as anti-gun as a company can get. If Lowes hadn't changed their position, I'd have simply stayed with the locally owned sellers when possible.
Lowes has won back my loyalty. I think they know which side their bread is buttered on. Contractors and do-it-yourselfers are normally not the cowering, liberal, linguini-spined (to borrow a phrase from Limbaugh)type individuals who are in favor of gun control.
Wizard
