I had a rifle rebarreled to a remington magnum contour and was wanting to go with a hogue overmolded stock. My question is what barrel channel do i need to get. They only list for standard barrel or heavy/varmint. I prefer to have a rifle that looks good but without the stock touching the barrel. Any and all help is appreciated.

Get the standard barrel channel. IT is easily opened if it's too close for your taste.

I own several Hogue stocks with the pillar bedding,, they are the standard barrel channel and all are magnum contours,, they fit well, you might need to do a little carving/cleaning of the recoil lug so as not to bind,, they are inexpensive, shoot very well, and the design fits me so well they soak up recoil and make a 7 mag feel like a 25-06, they just work,, not pretty but who cares,, I see they are coming out with camo versions and stocks to fit Savage this fall

The one I has was so freakin floppy I had to run the front bag directly under the chamber or the bbl would bounce off of the tip of the stock, even with a "generous" float. Also, the stock doesn't slide on bags, it sticks, causing maddening flyers, a little talc solved that though. Though I never tried them I'm assuming bi-pods woulda been beyond ugly.

The one Hogue stock I tried has me putting them squarely in the dogshyte catagory, likely never to return.

Too ugly for me to think about with any of those terms...

And they don't fit well either...
