Anyone think a new Remington/Hepburn #3 rifle from D.Z. Arms would have any collector value in coming years?

One can be purchased in left-hand and with the investment markets in the mess they are maybe rifles to play with might have more value in years to come.

Its hard to say , but if you don't pay to much of an outrageous price for it, you're not likely to loose any money on it.

Custom made, one at a time, between $3500 and $4000.

But they win matches although that's probably not what I'd use it for.

If it is for an investment right handed would be easier to sell later.Shiloh Sharps don't depreciate either.

The Remington/Hepburn #3 rifle from D.Z. Arms is of great quality, like mine alot. If you want one for a investment get a right hand action and keep it new in the box. A used Shiloh commands a close to new price if kept in good condition. I am sure that if D.Z. stops producing them at some point they could be worth somthing.

I have a few original old SS's. My Hepburn 38-55 was the first one suitable for scheutzen matches. I did well with it however its a chore after a while pulling that hammer back. Mine does seem to have decent lock time and a good trigger..

Then I had a High Wall in 38-55 restocked for the matches. I never got that one active as I came upon a AYDT before it was ready. The AYDT is a better gun from many standpoints for offhand matches.

I just can't see paying thousands of dollars for a repro Hepburn when there are originals about.

Here was a bargain and then some.

I always figure if a guy can buy a firearm, play with it for a while and than sell it for what you paid for it you were ahead of the game. Far better than what the stock market is doing right now.

I paid $300 for the 8.15-46 Aydt in 1978 and $125 for the Hepburn before that.

Here is one for sale. Mine is nicer with engraving and gold inlay.

I doubt that a new production Hepburn will be worth more than they are costing..This new economy we are approaching is going to change the way most of us live...and until its fixed things are not ripe for investment in firearms IMO...I know more and more double rifles are showing up on the market and at some nice pricing, might be a good time to buy, but real-estate might be better if you have the cash.
