Can we start a bullet exchange sticky? I know I would like to try some bullets out there without buying a whole box. Right now, I would like to try the 130 GR Barnes MRX, the 150 GR MRX and the 150 GR TSX all in .308.

I have 168 GR TSX's for exchange.

Maybe we can make this a sticky in the reloading forum?

I think that it is a good idea.

Kind of a "pay it forward" on bullets? I would be happy to participate. I'm thinking of limited quantities for testing purposes...for example, I'd like a dozen .375 235 gr TSX's to try in my .375 Ruger.

I could pony up some .375 300 gr RN's, and 7mm 145 gr Speer Grand Slams, and 9.3 mm 232 gr Norma's. And lots of others, if asked for specific bullets.

Good idea...who is the Sticky-Meister?

Hey folks, here is a suggestion that I thought was a great idea:

We could have a "caliber" box pass, and say, call it 100 .30 caliber bullets. You take 15 (enough for 5 three-shot groups or 3 five-shot groups), replace it with 15 of another weight/brand/constructions) etc., and move on. If you had a box of 150 with ten variations of 15 .30 cal bullets, a guy could do a lot of damage at the range and replace them with bullets that his guns didn't like.

Any other thoughts?

Of course, any stupidity like using the wrong caliber bullet in your gun (because it was put in the wrong box, would of course be your own fault. No liability to others, yadda yadda lawyer stuff...

Shipping might be an issue, for some of us... grin.

I kind of like where this is going, though.

We used to do something similar on a cigar board I frequented called a "box pass."

Somebody would buy a box of stogies he and a few others wanted to try, take a couple or three, and then replace those with a few sticks from his humidor. Most guys would replace with something of HIGHER value. The first guy would add a note to the box that corresponded to a running box inventory/tally online, and send to the next guy on the list (online as well). THAT was good because if a guy wanted to try a particular stogie, he'd get in line behind someone who would gladly put one in the box for him.

Those box passes continued long beyond the time when the original cigars were long gone. Months later, you could receive an Arturo Fuente box, say, that had no Arturo Fuentes inside, or maybe some completely different Fuentes.

Worked GREAT.

You guys might consider a cheap Plano with ten or fifteen divisions that could separate bullets, along with a chart of some kind that would clearly identify the caliber, weight, and all important details of each bullet.

The maybe send the first guy 15 bullets of an agreed caliber, etc. to get the thing going. If it ever got to me, I could easily supply quite a few variations.

Also, all bullet passers would have to agree, publicly, to "ASSUME THE RISK" of any and all liability resulting from reloading and firing passed bullets.

Sounds doable, but a lot of double checking will be required, like diameters, weights, bc's, sd's, mfg. etc. This would be required of the trader to insure that all items in a reload are correct according to the book.

Suggestion: put your trade-in bullets in a small baggie - with a note IDing them. Shipping has a way of scrambling things only separated by compartments.

Good suggestion both ways: the two-party trades and the traveling box. The traveling box will be expensive to ship, in return for a few bullets, though.

I've got a load of 7mm bullets that would be great for someone to use for practice shooting, Tons of them, most are 139 grain.

I'm open to trades for - we'll cross ship to each other so no money has to be exchanged

30 cal TSX (except 180's), or accubonds
9.3 cal (anything but 250's, or Hornady 286's)
20 cal Sierra Blitz kings 39 grain
