It was warranty work performed by S&W in 1994 due to a defect original 8 3/8" barrel that I had chopped to 5" back in the late 80's. They called and asked what I wanted for a barrel as they did not make an unlugged 5". I suggested the 5" Classic barrel and they obliged gratis.

That was a classy move on their part and a good choice, Ed.

All of these DA 44's make me question my wanting of a new SA. Had a SRH I bought brand new for $400 in '04 and had to sell when I went through a divorce a few years later. Sure cant replace it for that now.

This one was pretty clean....

started as a kid with Ruger 3 screws, kille a few deer, went S&W, then back to Ruger.......very briefly (Super Redhawk and then this SBH).

Am done with Ruger handguns. Might get a Smith 629 4" if one comes along at a fair price. If not then just drop down to a 686 6" for general duty (inc deer). Just don't need the boom and roar with such bad sinuses.

This last weekend my dad, oldest daughter and I went into some high mountain lakes in the upper Pahsimeroi Valley of Elmer Keith fame.

I was packing my 5" Model 29-2, in a Hill People Gear rig.

Great pics as usual Mackay. How are you liking the HPG chest rig? I have been debating on picking one up for my Redhawk and 1911.

The punchline is that I should have gotten one sooner. I have been taking it kayaking on the river too, putting a Glock in it, with a spare 22 round mag.

I talked my buddy out of his Mountain Gun. I've got a Diamond D Guides Choice Chest rig on order. I also ordered a Sourdough Pancake holster by Simply rugged.
