Has anyone bought an 1895RL??

Thinking about buying one?

What do you all think of it?

Personally, I kind of like it. Yeah, it can do nothing that the 45-70 can't, but I just find it interesting.

How about any definite word on conversions to 475 GNR?? WWG didn't have much to say when I asked them.

That rifle would be ideal for someone who has a sidearm of the same caliber, but I don't really need one. For a big bore, I'll stick with the 45-70. Now if they came out with a .50 caliber of some sort, I'll sit up and take notice.

Yes, I have thought about buying one and reaming it to a 475 GNR (45-70 expanded to a straight wall to accept a .475" bullet). Should be able to find a gunsmith who will rechamber for around $90, reamer should be readily available.

Yup, we had thought about buying one, actually, were planning on buying one. It seemed like an obvious continuation to our CAS data. But now, with how Marlin ended MT (ie, very bad taste left in the mouth)... well, it looks like those $'s are going to a 300wm 112bvsss single-shot - another 1000m toy. Maybe one of these days we'll feel like buying a new Marlin again. In the meantime, we'll rebarrel the old ones, or buy used ones.
