I have a .22PPC built by my gunsmith out of a 40X. He put on a Douglas barrel because the Hart barrel was shot out, but I got the rifle and a 36 Leupold, his Wilson dies and brass for $1500. It's by far the most accurate rifle in the safe, and always manages to put a smile on my face when I shoot a little tenth of an inch group. I have a 5/100 inch group on the wall next to my reloading table. I have two friends with 222 Rem's, one a Remington, one a Savage. I reload for them, and I have seen half inch groups from both. It's nice for obliterating the occasional woodchuck and such, but walking up to a target and finding one little hole is cool. I guess I'm getting to the part where I would want to know how they shoot. The other concern is how much time your willing to spend reloading. The PPC is the only caliber I use tap dies and neck size for. It's a lot of extra work if your not used to it. I have a custom chamber and your factories might not require turning, but you may want to clean off the high spots.

17ACKLEYBEE: Thanks for the heads up on Russ Haydon having the brass I need! I should have thought of him sooner. He and I go way back - I would rather give him my business than anyone else, for sure. Pricey stuff to say the least. BUT I know the kind of stuff Russ likes and I may just have some trading stock for him to consider. Thanks again.
Rob p: Good for you on your fine shooting 22 PPC! That 40X action would certainly (is!) be a fine platform for a custom Rifle to be made from. Congratulations again on the superb groups you've shot with your 22 PPC. By the way which bullets are you partial to for accuracy in your 22 PPC?

I did my best with 52 grain matchkings and H335. My gunsmith gave me 200 rounds of Sako ammo that was, according to him, loaded with 69 grain Lapua hollow point bullets. I pulled them one by one, turned the case necks, poured the powder back in, and seated them. They shot really well. Now that's got to be heavy for a PPC, but the combination worked although no manual lists bullets that heavy for the caliber! I also bought 200 rounds of Norma brass, which I haven't had as much luck with. The Sako brass, even the factories were nice. I wanted one of their rifles, which they said would do a quarter inch with their ammo. I never got my hands on one though.
