I'm new to the campfire, Have been looking at a 7mm super mag.
10" barrel falling block single shot made by E. Arthur Brown. My
local gun dealer also a good friend picked it up on a trade at a
gun show he was working. I am a 30 year handloader and have several
contender barrels and shoot USPSA matches at present, but know nothing about this gun or caliber. I would appreciate any imfo on
this. I do like playing with old calibers.

thanks in advance

I picked up a contender barrel in 7mm super mag some 10-12 years ago and have no seen another one since. The round is based on the 357 maximum case, necked down to 7mm with the neck only about about 1/8th of an inch long. Looks to be a factory TC barrel. Not a whole lot of info. hope it helps.

309coug is right, it is a 357 max necked down to 7mm. Redding is the only source (that I know of) for dies and they make 2 versions, 7mm Super Mag and 7mm Super Mag TC. TC bbls have a tighter neck IIRC. I have used 7mm TCU dies with good results as well. Case forming for mine (2 TC bbls) has been fairly easy. I just anneal new 357 max cases and then FL size in either the TCU or SM die. Loading data for the TCU can be used as well but start low as there are lots of variations from source to source.

HTH,
Tim

I have had my 7mm sm about 6 years it is real close to 7mm tcu.I started with 7mm tcu data when I first got the barrel.I think it was designed to be a 7mm tcu rimmed. Its a easy hand load but you better anneal the neck area or they will split after a few firings or when you neck down case.
