My wife bought a Browning A bolt 22LR with the box and instructions at the Pittsburgh gun show last weekend. The gun looks like its brand new and the numbers on the box and gun match. She paid $590. Was that a good deal or not.



She will not let me shoot it either!

Dunno bout what its worth, But those are sweet lil guns. And they will shoot.

I am a A bolt fanatic. The 22lr is a fine rifle. That's about in line with the expected price with the box, papers, etc. The wood on these can make a big difference. I just picked up one with a box and the finest piece of wood on any 22 I've seen for 550. It was used for a few months and had a small ding on the stock which I am having repaired now.

WOWZA!!!! The one we have has decent wood on it but nothing like that one.

The A-Bolt .22s are great rifles. I bought the 22 LR and 22 Magnum versions years ago and still have them. Browning should have never discontinued these rifles.

I just received one of their brand new heavy-barrel T-bolt rifles in 22 Mag for a review. It has pretty fair wood, but nothing to gloat over, so I won't feel too bad when I give it back to them eventually.

While I have a hard time getting my head around $600 for a rimfire rifle, I can admit that the quality of some rifles make that more reasonable -- kinda.

That tiger-stripe wood is drop-jaw spectacular!

Thanks for the compliments on the stock. Mud bogger, that's a nice 52. Quite a collectors piece. Have seen those going over a $1000. Nice wood on that. TNrifleman, hold on to those. The 22 mags are awfully difficult to come by. The prices are going through the roof, because of the small number of them floating around out there. Rockyraab, while it is tough to spend that kind of money on a rimfire, just think of all of the years of fun and use we get from them. Then we get to pass them on. Live and die by the Browning.

I believe you have a fine .22 rifle. I have an A-Bolt Medallion that I shoot. I also have an A-Bolt Gold Medallion NIB. Enjoy your rifle. You did not pay too much for it. Congrats

That's a nice looking a bolt. Is that the laminate model? Sweet looking rifle. I one saw a Gold Medallion, that was a nice one too. Love those Brownings.

It is the laminate model. They were a fairly limited run. First one I ever saw and it didnt last long.

10ring1- I agree with your comment about the non-availability of magazines for the .22 rimfires. I have an A-bolt Gold Medallion which the magazine lips went soft on. Tried everywhere but have been unable to locate another magazine. The company says they no longer manufacture them.

I used to think highly of Browning but will no longer buy their products since they do not support the product. The rifle cost $450 quite a few years ago. I thought I was getting a high quality gun but it appears not to be so. I was finally forced to do something I have never done before,started bending lips on a magazine. The gun is once again usable but I live in fear that it will quit feeding at anytime.

The gun would not even make a decent single shot since the magazine opening behind the barrel is so small that cartridges can not be single loaded (and I have small hands). The only way it can be single loaded is by removing the bolt, inserting a shell on the face of the bolt and re-inserting the bolt into the gun. As a result I seldom shoot the rimfire anymore. Since I am in my '70's I am reluctant to spend the amount of money it would take to get an accurate rimfire now.
