Copy and paste the ebay url here so we can all look at it and maybe we can help. I seem to recall seeing one that looked wrong as compared to the box/paperwork.

The model FP-99 is for a Savage 99, the model FP-99S is for a Savage 99 with tang safety, which kind of safety do you have on your rifle?

I just sold an FP to a guy on here last month and it didn't look anything like that first picture, I'm not sure what gun that sight is for but it looks like it is mounted from one of the sides.

The Williams model FP stands for fool proof, guess not in this case!

Come on guys, one of the Williams sights fits the tang holes and the other fits the factory drilled receiver scope mount holes. No mystery and no deception. The FP99S is for the scope mount holes. They are easy to tell apart if you visualize where they mount.

Sav300 - The Williams receiver sight in your photo is the model FP-99S which was designed to be mounted in rear two scope mount holes in receiver on tang safety M99's since those rifles do not have the tang sight holes in the tang because of the tang safety. Use of that sight and the Lyman model 57SB sight on an earlier model with the lever safety will result in covering up the cocking indicator on those earlier rifles. Don't know if that would result in damage to the "innards" of those rifles but it definately eliminates the effectiveness of the cocking indicator stud. The correct sights for lever safety M99's are: Williams FP-99, Lyman 57SA, and Redfield models 70L and 80L. Williams also has made a "cheapie" line of receiver sights sold as the "5D" line but none were made for the Sav M99.

Sorry guys, my computer has been getting a total gutting the last two days and I've been using my daughters piece of caca, it has a really bad screen and I couldn't see the pic that well.

It is a FP99s

I put that sight on a mid 50/s 99F 300 . I simply drilled a hole in the underside of the sight base for the cocking indicator to go up in. Never did like that sharp edged protrusion in the first place and I know when I have a round up the spout or don't and don't miss it a bit.
