7mm express didn't show up until 79-80. It only lasted a year or so before being changed back to 280 Rem. The exact dates are in "Remington 700" by John Lacy. PM me if you want me to look up the dates. I can also look up the manufacturer dates by serial #s.

All other PMs responded to. Thanks to all for the interest. 163bc

Can not afford them myself but have a friend who might be interested. Will see him tonight and mention them. Great Rifles. Did not know two of them even existed. TM

I thought I was the only 280 collector,

I have a 700 Classic marked 7mm-06 Remington,it was a show gun for a Shot Show.

A M700 Mountain rifle in 280

A M700 Stainless Synthetic in 280 in a Rimrock Stock

A Dakota76 with case colored reciever and rings by Turnbull in 280

A Model 70 Featherweight Classic in 280

A Steyr SBS Stainless in 280

The only one of these guns still available is the Dakota, but mine was stocked by Don Allen, who sadly is gone now.

You collection of M700s is really nice,I'm impressed.

Thanks for the bump rdobrow.
Ruraldoc, Quite a collection you have there. The 7mm-06 sounds real interesting and quite unusual!! The 280 is my all time favorite. Part of the reason is that it was introduced in 1957 same year as I was born. Another is that it is just a flat out awesome round. In addition to the 3 rifles you see here I have a Bansner Ultimate One rifle, a Model 700 Mountain rifle, a beautiful as new model 725, and a Remington Model 700 custom shop AWR II. In the last year I have also given each of my 2 son in laws unique model 700s in 280 Rem from my collection with the understanding that they be passed to my grandchildren someday. I also bought an awesome custom 280 from rdowbrow on this site a couple months back and I just sold it back to him!! I am glad I did because he too has great appreciation for the calibur. Looks like I'm not the only one here with a weakness for a fine 280 !! Best, Sam
