I've tried several different types of Matches and think that BPCR Silhouette is one of the most fun to shoot.
To be honest with you my first interest in rifles doesn't shoot stinky smokey stuff but the matches are a hoot. I like the teamwork between you and the spotter. I like that you can sometimes hit a few (at least more than I did in Highpower Silhouette). And most of all I enjoy the people I shoot with, there's lots of really good people at the matches.
Right now I shoot a DZ Arms Remington Hepburn 45-90. It's easy to load. Forgiving in the wind, and very competetive. I shot a match today as a matter of fact (need to work on chickens <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />).............DJ

djpaintless,

You captured my sentiments perfectly. I have an important life decision to make in the near future. I just retired and my wife will retire this year. We plan to move, most likely to somewhere in the southwest. I've been frustrated by the fact that there is very little silhouette shooting in the upper midwest these days. In Iowa it's shotguns and paper punching, and a bit of the cowboy stuff. I have to drive about six hours to the nearest silhouette match. If it were my decison alone I would be happy moving to Silhouetteville, USA, but I have to consider my wife's preferences, as well as the usual factors like family visits, health care, cost of living, etc., etc.

Paul39, I live in Oklahoma. It probably isn't the best place in the world to visit but I think its a great place to live.
Being in the center of the country is usefull for getting to different matches.
Our cost of living is one of the lowest in the country. Houses are far cheaper here than almost anywhere else.
Oklahoma City has a great gun club (10-15 ranges, 5 or 6 different matches a week).
The Best (Highly Subjectively mind you) football team in the world -OU Sooners etc.. Good Hospitals, freindly people etc..
There's probably 6-8 BPCR Silhouette matches a month within 3 hours.
If you don't like our weather wait a day!.
I spent a few months working in Iowa and Nebraska and felt very comfortable there. I bet you would enjoy Oklahoma (and as much as I hate to admit it Texas and Kansas).

Good Luck hope to see you here!.......DJ

dj,

Thanks for the heads up. Oklahoma might be a tough sell to my wife. She's kind of partial to the Phoenix area. The shooting is good there, but it's a bit heavily populated for my taste. I just got off the horn with Joe Garcia down your way. Got some bullets from him to try before I buy a new mould for my .45-70.

Joe's a great guy, shot with him this weekend. He runs the Silhouette matches at OKC gun club right now. I don't know about the silhouette shooting in Phoenix but I do Know it's hotter than heck there. Good luck convincing your wife......DJ

OK, I found directions to the Tulsa Gun Club at this link http://www.claytargetsonline.com/club.php/2153

For Oklahoma City Gun club please check out or new website at www.okcgunclub.org. For other info on BPCR call Joe Garcia his number should be at the site.

The Tulsa match is the first Sunday of the Month and the OKC match is the second.

The OKCGunclub.org site lists all of our matches, gives directions, maps of the range and all sorts of neat stuff. We like to encourage everyone to participate in our matches so please spread this around we hope to welcome lots of folks!.......DJ
