Guy's, don't take me wrong here and this doesn't mean I am supporting Kerry, I will no doubt vote Bush unless he drops dead between now and election day but, If Kerry spent one day in Vietnam or even spent time in the military during the Vietnam Conflict he is a Vietnam veteran. I cannot take anything concerning this away from him, this is something he earned if he was in as stated. There are many veterans out there that only spent a few days in Nam and others that spent countless days over there but they all are deserving of any rights they may obtain from this. Just the state of your mind that the words "You are going to Vietnam" put you in is worth much more than they will ever get from any Tax supported VA Benefits. If he wants to use it as a Political thing to get him elected then that is his right and as of right now I don't see it infringing on any of my rights. On the other hand if Bush spent time in the Military he is deserving as well wether he spent it in a reserve unit, National Guard unit or what ever as long as it was U.S. Military. I cannot see one veteran throwing off on another veteran about his military tour what ever it may have been, as we all know it is a big wheel and all the spokes are need to support the total weight. Yes one might carry more weight today or for several days but in time the others will have to do their job. Regardless of Bush and Kerry's military careers if one uses it against the other then I feel like they are too "Low Down" of a person to serve as a President. This also applies to any American citizen throwing off on a Person's military career, are they deserving to be an American citizen?

I wish I had been stationed stateside or europe at the time! I even believe some that were never in the military are "Vietnam Veteran". I know my wife is, she had to watch "Film at eleven" every night for 9 months and 11 days hopeing a Chaplin didn't show up at the front door with the post Sgt Major and one of the ladies from the NCO wives association.

T LEE, While I was with the Third Marine Division, 1/4 MAU in SEA I also thought the same thing and then my 13 month tour was up and I got orders to the 8th Marines in North Carolina, Boy-O did my mind change fast I wanted to go back to the third and take what ever they dished out. The state side duty for me as a 0311 sucked big time it was a completely different Corps. I would have stayed in and made a career out of it if they would have left me outside of the U.S.

Thats the difference between the Army and the Corps. I was a 95 Bravo primary MOS (Military Police) but was qualified expert on the M-60, thus I was a door gunner in 'Nam!

7400--I would agree but for one thing--Kerry has made his 90 days in Vietnam the centerpiece of his public persona--it defines him and makes him a leader and means we should listen to him on security and defense issues. That's his spiel, not the RNC's. And it was his hacks who decided to flyspeck W's unremarkable Air Guard service as if it were something sinister.
Now, putting aside his craven slander of his comrades when he returned (and after discovering you can't get elected in Massachusetts as a war hero, quickly became a war protester), and putting aside the pathetic theatrics of throwing away someone else's medals for the TV cameras while saving his own for his office wall, if he is basing his entitlement to leadership on his illustrious war record, which he clearly is---then that record is open to scrutiny and comment. The fact that he racked up 3 PHs and a Silver Star without ever darkening a hospital door is relevant, since he uses those medals in every speech.
Just as in the courtroom, you can't usually put on character evidence to show your adversary is a bad person, but once they"open the door" by putting reputation and character at issue, it's open season. And of course the DNC and it's media lickspittles have been savaging Bush's reputation since he ws governor of Texas, pretty much non-stop.

I guess the way to keep "Terrorists" out of the Country is to open the Borders? If this happens and you live within two hundred miles of the Mexican Border, MOVE because the fallout from the Nuclear weapon that WILL be detonated in One of our Cities will have a Mexican accent. I live too far North to worry about things like that, but the possibility is already here for it to happen. There is only one way to stop Terror and that is with Nuclear Weapons. Kill fifty of us and we will kill Millions of your People. Every time you attack Us we will turn one of the Major Muslim cities into cosmic dust. Leave us alone and we will return the favor.
