Ingwe, I take that as a compliment of the highest regard!

North Island, New Zealand.
We fished Ngaruroro, Ripia, Tongariro and Mohaka Rivers. All those pictures were on the Ngaruroro R. You made two long casts in a pool...one at the bottom and one at the top. Fish ate it, or not, and you moved on to the next pool. Until you saw something huge, worth really working on. We fished 6 river miles that day. It was one of those days you will never forget, b/c it will never be duplicated.

I hunt deer on a tiny piece of property. I got a 190 pound buck there while the lady of the house was out. I was working there yesterday, and brought pictures. She couldn't believe that deer was in her back yard. She asked if she could take a couple pictures. She said she wanted to show them to a friend of hers from the garden club. She's got deer in her yard too, some real monsters she said. She is a veterinarian, loves venison, has a nice piece of property with big deer on it, and she's single! Now, if she doesn't look like Dom Deluise, I just might have to go a calling.

Veddy veddy cool... cool

That really is a honeymoon....

And Ive heard that about New Zealand...almost sight fishing at times and in certain places...

We do alot of fly fishing here...duh...but also my wife and I really like ultralight spin gear on small creeks...something that has caused us to be shunned in the better circles laugh

I'm in it for the fun...but catching the caliber of fish in your pics on a fly anywhere is pretty much a life event, I'm thinkin....

Ingwe, I don't shun the spinning rods at all. I lived in WYO for about 10yrs, rowing boats and trying to scratch out a meager living as a fishing and hunting guide. I have caught many big trout on soft plastic baits and broken back Rapalas. Sometimes you want to fly fish and sometimes you really want to see what lives in the water. No shame in that at all. Are you in Bozoman? Great fishing up there. Most falls, I'd hook the drift boat up to the truck and make a fall brown MT road trip.

Our trip to NZ was perfect. If you ever head that way, we should discuss. I will go back in due time and maybe add a free range stag to the menu....(when I win the lottery).

We had days when we sight casted to big fish, up on the cliffs, spotting...and other days we blind casted into pools.

Quick story....I saw a huge trout (est. at 13lbs) that was cruising in a huge clear pool that was about a 40ftx75ft. I spotted her from a 12ft above the water, while standing on a cliff. She was cruising with the current, just under the surface. I couldn't cast as she swam just below me. I had my fly and all my line in my free hand. The only option I had was to literally throw the fly in the water with my hand, trying not to make a lot of movement. The fly hit the water about 3ft in front of the beast. I watched her tail move, her accelerate, open her mouth and eat the fly. As soon as she ate, I raised the rod and my line shot out of my hand, went in all directions, got wrapped around my pack and ping! She was gone. All in a matter or about 2 seconds. I will never forget that fish.

One thing about trout fishing is....I have yet to catch a trout that didn't live in a pretty place.

Ditto here...wife and I are in Helena...Bozo area not so good anymore...
Even the Mo. up here is so crowded I quite fishing it ten years ago, though it still has 4500 Trout per linear mile...
We strictly fish creeks now...fish are not as big..but in ten years I have seen four ( 4) other people fishing...
We still get the odd good one....

My cousin last August..

OK, guys, stop whining about your spouse not fishing or hunting with you. My wife doesn't hunt or fish, and I LIKE it that way. Here are several reasons why based upon actual "field observations" of friends and their spouses:

1. You just bought a Sage flyrod, so SHE has to have a Sage flyrod.
2. That sweet little pocket revolver you bought for concealed carry magically got appropriated as HER CCW piece.
3. Every time she shows friends, coworkers and relatives photos of your last fishing vacation, she leads off by showing the photo of HER biggest fish and loudly proclaiming that it was considerable bigger than yours.
4. She considers makeup and perfume mandatory gear for a treestand.
5. She considers incessant conversation mandatory behavior for a treestand.
6. She fails to appreciate the value of all-night poker games in hunting camp as well as your participation is said games and the usual consumption of accompanying adult beverages.
7. She fails to appreciate obligatory male bonding rituals in hunting camp, including belching, farting and making jokes about wives. She especially fails to appreciate the jokes about wives.
8. She constantly changes the TV station in the hunting lodge from hunting shows or football games to the shopping channel.
9. Tears well up in her eyes everytime a new crate arrives from your taxidermist...

...And finally, in the number 10 slot, her idea of a spot-and-stalk hunt includes a pee stop every quarter hour until she's marked out a territory roughly equal to the home range of a mountain lion.

I'm sure you guys could add more. I feel it's only fair to point out such salient points to you younger guys to help you maintain a balanced perspective. wink

Ingwe, those are pigs! That brownie your wife caught has shoulders. Nice buck. Looks like a fall fish? I used to fish the Misery below Wolf Crk quite a bit. Too many boats for me. Do you know Bison Saddlery in Helena? Steve's making me some knife sheaths. Good guy.

KYW, It's not all bad. We fish together, but don't hunt together. She's pretty self sufficient with a fly rod. So it works...and I would add that our vacations together, usually mean fishing somewhere. Not all bad

Yep the Mo is where all the boats are....

And I know Steve! He does good work man. He makes knife sheaths for a couple buds at work here...you a knife maker?

And right on my wifes fish...it was fall, spawning colors etc...got him on a 4ft. microlight..what a kick! grin

Weve done a bunch of Pike fishing up north with Fly and Microlights...the goal is to catch a fish longer than the rod,
Almost...but not quite...

and this snot rocket my pard caught on a 4 ft. micro..

No, not a knife-maker, I wish I had that much talent. I was given a Kaufman knife by a client a few yrs ago and noticed the well made sheath by Bison Saddlery. Most knives don't fit snugly in their sheaths and have a tendency to fall out (that's also where manufacturer skimp). I had a couple other fixed blades that needed sheaths, tracked down Steve and had him do them for me. Actually, I've been exchanging emails with him this weeks and am sending him another to do.

Nice looking pike. I would love to do that someday. Caught a few in the Boundary Waters, but they didn't have the size like yours.

KYW, my wife doesn't have any sisters, sorry. grin

Couple of Reds from Port Sulfur this yr. Hit the weather perfect in Feb. Caught these guys on 8wts, I wished I had a #10.
