My 7 mm WSM is a Model 70, and it really likes the Federal Premiums with 160 partitions, as you say, with quite high velocities. I've quit handloading for it as a result. The Federal Premiums don't shoot as well in the .270 WSM though. Might have something to do with the chamber, there's a big difference shooting new brass vs. once-fired with the same bullet and load combos.

I worked out the scope problem and have the rifle shooting. My load is from the Nosler manual. A max load of Mag-Pro, Fed 215M, 150gr Partition seated .030 off. 100yd groups were .7" to .8". They were clocking 3040fps ave. at about 75 degrees. My first chrono session with this load yielded a little over 3100fps but it was a hot day.

This is a hot load...work up! When I deprime the cases used with this load the primers exhibit a slight flattening. The primer pockets seem to be holding up fine with multiple loads but this is hot enough for me.

I have read data attributed to Winchester that Mag-Pro was the powder used when they first introduced the cartridge. Of course, I cannot say it is fact.

My next step is to work at longer ranges and see how the accuracy holds up from 200-400yds.
