Yeah, I used the Alliant data for my RL17 load with a 150 Speer and got almost exactly what Alliant did. But they don't have loads for 220s. I've emailed them, but no luck.
Ok, I just called them up and the main tech support guy is out until next Monday at some pistol matches.
Anyway, I picked up some 220 Sierras (for only $21.50!!!!) and I'll shoot them till the A-Frames arrive (hopefully tomorrow).

I got a response from Johan with Ramshot/Accurate saying not to use 3100 or MagPro, as they are too slow. I say F-that, if RL22 isn't too slow, 3100 dang sure ain't. That being said, in doing a little research, mostly by stealing .300 WSM 200 gr loads, these make sense to me:
64-66 gr RL 17
64-67 gr of RL22
59-60 gr Big Game
61-62.5 gr of 760 or H414 (Hodgdon's recommendations always seem a little low, so we'll see how much higher we can go)
62 gr of 4007SSC
64-66 RL19
66-68 H4831SC
64-66.5 3100
68-70.5 gr N165
63-65 N160
72-74 Magpro
70 gr 780
60-63.5 IMR 4350
66-68 IMR 7828
64 gr Accurate 2700

Sierra's are great, cheap, accurate, practice bullets. I do that same thing with my .358- practice with Sierra's, shoot Noslers for real.

I salute your spirit of adventure, exbiologist, and will be very interested in what you find out! Be a little cautious extrapolating 300 WSM to 325 WSM... I was one of the first kids on the block with a .325 (my first one), and there was NO loading data out there for it yet, and I was surprised at how a few things I tried did NOT translate well from 300 WSM. Either by showing pressure signs, or by really not making the kind of speed you might have expected looking at the 300 WSM data.

Yeah, I've had both success and failure with the .264 Win Mag by stealing comoparable SD loads from the 7mm Rem Mag. Took a Vihtavouri N165 load from the 7mm Mag and spit a 130 Accubond out at 3425. It was a little hot!
I also shoot Speers for practice with the .264 and .358, then use same weight Partitions to resight and kill stuff.
But I for dang sure ain't gonna try all those loads, just a handful of the RL19-RL22 range. But if I get desperate, I have every one of those powders and I'll make something give me 2775-2800 with a 220. All this for a friend's gun, but I enjoy it.

I also have run the 180 TSX quite a bit. Another very interesting load. STA (Randy) gets 3100 fps with that bullet and one of the RL powders (not RL17); the best I could do was 3060 or so with good ol' H4350.

Both the 200 and 180 TSX are very accurate in my .325's.

FWIW, I posted a thread on the Gunwriter's forum a couple months ago seeking advice on maximum penetration from a .325 WSM. I was wondering what folks thought about the 220 A-frame in particular. It wasn't much of a thread, it got mobbed by the usual band of disruptive a-holes, but the general feeling was that if a guy seeks MAX penetration from a .325, the 200-gn TSX was the best bet.

Again, though, the "measly" 200-gn Accubond penetrates like a big dog, so that leaves me feeling that penetration isn't an issue worth losing sleep over. I like how the Accubond kills fast, has a good BC, is relatively cheap and easy to get, etc.

But there probably isn't a "wrong" choice, just many flavors of "right". grin

Excellent news & thank you for the very useful info.

It's going to be a hard decision between a FW Model 70 in 325WSM or 338WM.

Except that the 325 is actually available and the 338 is merely cataloged.

Pardon my ignorance <tm>, but would a .338 Win Mag and a .325 WSM share the same action in the Winchester FW, or does Winchester have a WSM-length action?

If it's the same action I'd just go .338 WM. I have one of those too... love it, great cartridge.

The beauty of the WSM's lies in the compact rifles available. The power to weight and length ratio is really quite something in, say, my .325 WSM BLR, or my .325 Montana. Lots of oomph in a small, compact package.

In a full-length action, the WSM's don't really move me.

And I don't think they'll ever do a .338 Featherweght. But they do have a .325 version.

Markus, I forget... what speeds to you get with that bad boy?

How's biz? Had a fat one fall in my lap last week... knock on wood, might be able to keep shoes on the kid's feet after all! smile
