I've yet to ask a question on the 24 Hour Campfire someone couldn't answer.I've got two questions today kind of rolled up in to one topic, please.Who made Browning scopes in the !960's and in the 1970's?Also,when were El Paso,Tx Weaver K-9 scopes produced?I read some where that Redfield might have made the Brownings.I hope these questions are within bounds of this forum.Thanks.

I have a 4x Browning on my Sheridan pellet rifle and it is identical in looks and dimensions to other 3/4" tube scopes I've seen made by Redfield.

Can't help with the Weaver question though--

Most of the Browning scopes surely looked like Redfield. I am no expert, so please wait for someone more informed than I am for a definitive answer to your question.

Yeah, they sure look "Redfieldy" grin And probably are.

"OLD RIFLESCOPES" by Stroebel states that Browning scopes were "reportedly" made by Redfield.

Bushnell made them in recent years. When they were being cleared from inventories after Browning and Bushnell parted, the scopes were often being advertised as Elite 4200s minus the Rainguard coating.

That being the case, likely good quality.

the recent ones were made by bushnell. I had a long phone conversation with Bushnell CS to verify this. I was told optically they were inbetween their 3200 and 4200 series without the rainguard coating. I owned a 2x7x32 that got sold off with the rifle it was on. Very good scopes for the money, especially at the closeout prices you can find them at now. Also the Bushnell CS rep told me that Bushnell would be handling the lifetime warrenty on them. I called browning to verify this and it all checked out. I've only had to use Bushnells warrenty once on a 3200 elite and it was a great experience. I wouldn't shy away from these scopes at all.

Do they say when Bushnell starts making Browning scopes? What will be the Bushnell equivalent? Legend?
