Not quite... the Montana Version should come in around 5oz's heavier than the 84M Montana... that means if I deck out a 30-06 with Uncle Mikes Mountain Sling, four rounds, Talley Lwts and 6x36 Leupold I'll be around 6lb's 9oz's.

That exactly describes my Ti '06. I could further trim the weight with a new FP assembly and an Edge stock, but I'm happy with where it's at for the coin invested.

Yes this is very good news. Best of both worlds. No doubt it will cut deeply into the existing ultra light lineup. I wonder if they will keep the magnum cartridges in the original 8400 profile?

Very cool.

The current LA Kimbers suck butt. No point in owning one, etc.

I have a 30-06 and a .338 I love... no reason to change a thing there... hmmm... maybe a .338-06 or a .280?

Its also smart of Kimber to come out with a 24" barrel. It will be easy to hit 3000fps with a 130gr Partition in the old 270WCF.

Much of this is old news, but the 84L will be launched in 25-06, 30-06 and 270Win in the Classic and Classic Select Grade. Actual weight is 6 pounds, 2 ounces, with a 24-inch barrel, and magazine capacity is 5 rounds.

Expect them to begin taking orders around November 1st.

RMEF has already bought the first 500.

I think I will wait for the Montana in this gun, I will be replacing a synthetic stocked rifle in .270winchester. I am happy with my 300WSM but just could never see the 270WSM for some reason, personal prejudice I guess.

I personally am pumped. My only problem is can I sell my current 8400 30-06 to fund one? Dang, I hope the new one shoots as good as my current 8400. Anybody really want an accurate 8400 Classic '06?

Now doesn't that sound nice, I may just have found a reason to finally do my 06 AI....grin

Of course, I'll just have to have it abreviated to 23".

I may be in that very same boat. 6x42 W/M-1 elevation turret in Talley's. Only thing better would be if one could actually build a 284Win on a 84M.

I wander why they have'nt offered the 84 in any of the Ruger compact mags. The current 84 with a round thats engineered for a 18" or 20" barrel seems like a home run
