I am buying a new T3 lite in 25-06 and I need a recommendation on which mounts and rings to put on it. I want to get them ordered so I can put it all together as soon as it gets here. For some reason I was thinking they come with rings already on them, but I am considering Talley lightweights or a set form deadnutz but I am open to other options as well. Also I will be mounting a 42mm scope on it so what height will I need to not have clearance issues but still keep the scope low? Thanks.

Extreme,

Both of those mounts will be fine, I have both. Tikkas come with mounts, I couldn't get them to stay in place on my 06 so I never considered using them on my .223. There are Talley's on my T3 30-06 and Deadnutz on my T3 .223. The Talley lows are taller than my Deadnutz. If I were to make the purchase again it would be Deadnutz because they are one piece and never would have the need to be floated for alignment. If know one else comes up with answers to your height question I'll do some measuring after work.

Cheers,

I've used both Talley's and Deadnutz. Both are good, but I like the Talley's a little better.

I used the factory rings for a long time. I replaced all the screws with better ones from the hardware store for around $2 and felt it was just fine on my 30-06 Tikka T-3 lite. The factory screws were soft and the heads were shallow allowing the hex wrench to slip when installing.

Warne rings are the best system I have found for tikka's. Mount directly to groove.

Between me and buds we have owned at least 10 T3's of various chamberings and NEVER once used anything but factory.

I personally have put at least 200-300 rounds thru T3's from 223's to 270WSM. Worked perfect........

I'll buy a set of two of the factory rings if the price is reasonable. Silver preferrably.

Factory rings have worked for 4-500 rounds on my 338 Fed with stiff loads up to 210 grains. Still tight. They look a little ridiculous, not cool enough.

I'll second that.

I have the factory rings on my .308 with zero problems. I've shota 5 shot 1.5" group with that rifle at 238 yards. I'd say they work just fine, and that rifle takes alot of abuse in my atv scabboard. My T3 in 7 mm rem mag had the factory mounts but the scope had to sit to far forward to clear the bell. I purchased the high deadnutz mount and it works very well so far.

I have Warnes on both of mine.

I was using the factory rings on one and when I went to take them off, one of the soft screw heads stripped out on the mount. I had to cut it off with a dremel. I'll never use stock rings again.

I mounted Talley Lightweight on my T3 25-06. They are light, very strong and they look great. The lows will easily allow you to clear the barrel with a 42 mm scope.

I always use Talleys on the T3. But mostly because I don't like the look of stainless rings on a black scope, to be honest.

I have a T3, and use S&K, rings and mounts. I have used S&K for years on several other rifles, and I think that they are great.

I tried two sets of Talleys on my Tikka and both required lapping and I'm not a fan of lapping aluminum rings. Each set was misaligned in different directions. Warne rings worked great but before I settled on a particular mount, I gave Dednutz a try and never looked back. This mount provided perfect alignment, no scope bind whatsover and very strong. They may not look pretty but they are excellent IMO.
