Usually anything of the 150-165 grain flavour works just fine. If you have a preference for one type or the other use it.

In a .30-06, I'd use a 165gr intlerlock or interbond/accubond. No need for 180's, unless they shoot better in your rifle. Even with our big bodied deer, they are still thin skinned game...

I prefer to use bullets that shoot accurately in my particular rifle.

Of late it seems them danged old fashioned Hornady interlocks (you know the lead tipped ones) are working mighty fine in a host of different rifles.

If it's made for big game, and it shoots well, it gets the nod.

Simple as that.

Any bullet will work along with a well placed shot.

I've used mostly Nosler Partitions in calibers from 270 to 300 mags up there.They work fine....no drama or rodeos.

The only time I ever used a boat tail it was a Speer 160 out of a 7 mag that totally disentegrated inside a mule deer shoulder. I have often wondered about Sierra on game and just didn't have the guts to try them. Have been especially curious about the HPBT, I think I will give them a try in my '06.

Diehard Sierra user here!My wife and I have killed several 300 pounders with 150gr Pro Hunters.Another favorite are the 165hpbt.Canadian deer can be large,but seem to die just like our puny Arkansas deer.Its important to shoot something that you have confidence in,and that is usually something that shoots well, or that you have used on other game.
