Does anyone know of Gonic Muzzleloaders? My father in law is going to give me to start muzzleloading. He has two, one open breach and the other sealed - which he is giving to me. Thanks in advance.

Gonic is one of the original mag inlines. I use to own a sealed breech Gonic and it was a very good shooter. It would keep with the up and up of todays in performance due to the sealed breech and barrel (other than the savage smokeless). However the biggest problem is the cleaning of a sealed breech Gonic, the inability to remove and push through made it a chore. Many guys around here bought them and found accuracy drops over seasons and misfires to be the norm..I think much of that had to due with the lack of ability to clean properly or thoroughly. Mine was a laminate stock version and after 2 replacements stocks (warrantied) I finally asked for a Synthetic replacement and sold it a short time after. I was shooting 130 gr RS Select/460gr gonic bullet and I believe it just tore a poorly made stock apart in our cool climate. I will suggest you remove the nipple when cleaning, I know many who have had to get them ease or tapped out from becoming seized..another weak point of gonic.
In todays world they may seem daunting with cleaning but if she is good condition you should have yourself a good inline. Best part is when you fall in love with the sport and YOU WILL!! Then you decide to buy a new one of your own you'll know how to really clean/operate a ML and think almost any modern mag inline is a snap <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Enjoy and have fun!
