Anybody own one of these beauties? I just found a new unfired one in .308 with hang tags at a local dealer for $1100 (yeah I now they haven't been made for 20 plus years). I really miss my Winchester 88 I traded. This gun is better lookng and lighter. Is this a good price?

Pacecars,
I've never had an experience with this particular rifle, but recall that when Sako brought this rifle out, serious bench rest shooters where using the Sako actions for their benchrest rifles.
El Lobo in NM

Pacecars, is the finnwolf a lever action? Curious as they make fine guns. I had a Sako finn bear in 375 H&H but sold it and wished I didn't. I also had a sako 6mm PPC that in the deluxe hunter model that would shoot 1/4 moa. My brother in law bought it from me in a moment of weakness. Probably shot about 10 deer with it.

Yes it is a lever action. It is similar to the Browning BLR and Winchester 88.

I've heard good things about the finnwolf -- an accurate rifle. It is my understanding that they purchased the design rights for their action from Winchester based on the 88 -- I'm not sure if this is true or not.
$1100 seems like a lot to me for this rifle if you intend to fire it. Have you seen any on Guns America? I've never seen one for sale up here in Canada, but met one guy who had one and a few who would like one.

Saw one of those @ the Easter calgary gunshow in 2002. Remember clearly that the price was $650.-Can. The gun was in VG condition.

was curious about this myself so checked old sales on auctionarms and gunbroker in last 3 mos., a "fine" .308 made 517, a "NIB" .308 ser no 99 made 1100, an x .308 w/Redfield with 1195 min drew no bids, a mint 308 with 900 min drew no bids, a mint 308 with Sako peep min 1025 no bids, a like new .243 left hand stock made 950. Four digit serial number early guns are touted as more desirable. Have looked at these and one model, don't recall whether early or late, had a cheekpiece on both sides of the stock.

I have owned a Finnwolf since 1972, it is my primary deer rifle. Capable of sub moa groups with the right load. It came with a Monte Carlo stock (no cheek piece). In S E PA they have been going for $900 + for used in very good condition. I traded a Win 88 in .243 straight across for it and have never regretted the transaction. GM
