If you can't get 57 of IMR4350 and a 165 gr to shoot, you got more issues than powder and a bullet. wink

Elk in the dark timber always got the attention of those 220 grain Winchester Silver Tips back when Kennedy was Pres.

That's a fine load. I use a little more because my favorite .30-06 seems to like it, but I doubt that it kills any better.

The old guy (made July, 1918) will put three into 1/2" group at 100 yards on a regular basis. This is with an old (dare I say?) Bushnell Banner 3-9X scope and original military trigger.

I've got an Enfield like that.. mine is a hybrid tho..
the action is a Winchester built one, and the barrel is a Remington built one..

It still has the full 26 inches, and it is as accurate as any self respecting varmint rifle..still with military trigger...which I like and also like the cock on opening feature, regardless of what other folks say..

It will take loads all day, of a heavy charge of 4831SC and 200 grain bullets, giving an MV of over 2900 fps with that bullet!

Handloading for a friends M1 Garand for match shooting, I came across some older Speer data for the 06, using 4064..
using 50 grains of it with a 180 grain bullet, gives a very respectable 2800 fps out of both the Enfield and the Model 70..

This winter the Enfield is going to get Parkerized, and a Picatinny Rail mounted on it..the scope is getting changed to a Leupold 3 x 9 with a heavy German # 1 reticle on it..

That must be some load... Wow... 2900 fps with a 200 gr bullet is good for a .300 Win mag!

Just how heavy is that 4831 load??? Wow!

will send you that info in a PM...

but actually I worked the load up to that, after a conversation with the "Ballistics Guru" at Nosler, who told me that one couldn't fill the 06 case up with enough H4831SC, to get themselves into trouble with pressure.

Take a look at my various 200gn loads. The best I could do was way short of what is being recommended and as usual, 760/H414 is still the world champ powder for my '06 at least.

I have one load that I use because it just works that well.
59.0 grains of IMR 4350 behind a Speer 150 grain mag tip seated at the cannelure with a CCI 200 primer lighting the fire. Generic as hell but it works faithfully every time with great monotony. How fast, who cares, I don't own a chrony and neither do the deer.

Lightsoutsix,
For many years H414 was the powder for my Remington with 150 grain bullets. Had no problem getting to the 3000fps range, and accuracy was good.
I shot the factory barrel out and re-barrled with a Shilen. I discovered with the new barrel I could not get the same velocity, ended up using H380.

Old load that still works good!

In my abolt, it turns my '06 into a 308. Factory federal 150gr. 308's run 2824 out of my 24" barrel Montana. 52 grains IMR 4064 push various 150gr. bullets around 2830 in my '06 A-bolt. Very accurate but I may push things to 53 grains and see what happens.

60 grains of IMR4350 will push that bullet along near 3K if you want. It was safe in my Tikka, but I worked it up. Actually went to 60.5 and clocked 3040.

Thanks, I'll try working up some IMR 4350, My 300 wsm loves that powder. I just haven't tried it in the 06' since H414 and IMR 4064 had been working so well.

whats wraong with 2600-2700. might produce fantastic results with the balistic tips and acubond. heck even the corelockts would perform great at that speed.

i wouldnt dub it cause its a couple fps slower

I ain't never see'd an .06 that wouldn't shoot well; if all else was good; with a full charge of IMR4350.
