Does anyone recall many years back some business/insurance exe, with a shotgun wired under his chin, being draged out onto the street?

I saw that on TV maybe on the news but could have just been a movie.

Judge Harold J. Haley, 1970. He was killed.

[Linked Image]

Harold J. Haley (November 14, 1904 August 7, 1970) was a Superior Court judge in Marin County, California. He was taken hostage in his courtroom, along with several others, during the course of a trial, and murdered during the attempted escape of his captors with their hostages.

On August 7, 1970, Jonathan Jackson brought guns into Judge Haley's courtroom, where San Quentin inmate James McClain was on trial. McClain was freed along with two other San Quentin inmates, Ruchell Magee and William Christmas, who were present at the trial as witnesses. Jackson and the prisoners took Haley and four other people hostage and attempted to escape.

Haley, Jackson, McClain and Christmas were killed as the abductors attempted to drive away from the courthouse. Haley was apparently hit by fire from a sawed-off shotgun that had been fastened to his neck with adhesive tape by the abductors. Two of the other hostages were wounded.[1]

Photographs of the event were taken by news photographers Jim Kean and Roger Bockrath.[1][2] The best-known photograph by Bockrath shows McClain leading out the hostages, pointing a revolver at police with his right hand while holding a shotgun taped around Haley's neck with his left hand.

The police investigation determined that the shotgun used had been owned by Angela Davis. Charges were brought against Davis and Magee, the sole survivor among the abductors. The case was appealed during trial in Magee v. Superior Court (34 Cal. App.3d 201) (1973) on the issue of permitting former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark to join the defense team. Davis was acquitted while Magee was convicted for Haley's kidnapping and murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, which he is serving in Corcoran State Prison.

Johathan Jackson was George Jacksons younger brother. (Jackson of Soledad Brother & San Quentin Six infamy) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Jackson_(Black_Panther)

I have the honor of helping to ensure that Hugo Pinell, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Pinell last of the San Quentin Six, remains locked up in CA's Pelican Bay State Prison.

The violence of these individuals and the Black Panthers was the worst of what the Sixties turned into as socialist dogma came to the fore front in that era.

We should never forget that people like Barack Obama and the leaders of the Democratic party see these violent people as heros of the revolution, to be held up as an inspiration.

there's a hell of a lot worse than Hugo locked up in Pelican Bay. That's probably the worst hell-hole this side of the New Mexico Pen.

True we have some real losers here, but Hugo is probably the closest thing to what the left would consider to be a "Political Prisoner". And, the only one I know of who fits this threads topic.

It is amazing how inocuous some of the worst ones seem to be in the prison environment.

We have the role model for the "Silence of the Lambs" series, and he seems like a polite old man, until you tell him no. Then he morphs into pure rage. It is something about evil humans that too many in our society have never seen, fortunately for them, never seen, and have a hard time believing exists.

Also happened in Indianapolis about 35 or so years ago. A man named Tony Kiritsis wired a shotgun to some bidnessman's neck.
My mother recognized the name and found him in her old High School yearbook.

My wife and I were spending the summer going cross country with a small travel trailer in 1970.We were in a trailer park directly across the highway from the San Rafael courthouse when that incident took place.....it was the closest trailer park to the Golden Gate Bridge.
About a week later we were in the LA area, and I took an afternoon to cruise some gunshops. When all the investigations were finally published it was established that Angela Davis had cruised almost exactly the same gunshops, and bought several weapons, a few weeks before I did.It was a travesty that she got to go free.
A couple of years later an Oakland NJ police officer was murdered at a traffic stop just outside of town,a town that we had ironically moved to.It was discovered that she was connected to the weapon used in that crime too.She has been hiding out in Cuba ever since, having been given political assylum there.Apparently being involved in the murders of several innocent citizens is political as long as you are an avowed communist.

She's a) not hiding out and b) a retired professor at one of the most liberal of all CA universities - UC Santa Cruz.

Steve,

Probably not BO, what with her running as the US Communist Party presidential candidate a couple times in the 80's. She'd figure Barack was too far to the right.
