Did a 2 day hog hunt last weekend. Rode a total of 49 miles on the Honda 400 Foreman & used 2.1 gallons. This makes my effective range about 70-75 miles including reserve (3.3gallon total.) Much of this was with 2 big guys, (Littlebit & myself), rifles etc. on board. We also toted 100 lb corn to fill up feeders, and brought 2 hogs out of the woods. Most riding was 10-20 mph, rutted roads and tracks. How does this compare to other 4-wheelers? badger.
------------------
Keep the traditions alive, take your child hunting.....

Badger: My Polaris has a 5 gallon tank. Haven't come close to running it out yet. Have you seen Cabela's 2000 Fall Master Catalog, page 307. They have some real nice fuel and watter cells. 3 1/2 gal. ea., there the same size as the racks, and about two inches tall, and there able to withstand 800 pounds loaded on top of them. I don't know if there on their web site or not. The code is:
(700-Fuel) and (701-Water)# HA-51-2185
Phil

Badger,
Great topic ! I have no idea.. my ATV is a low end model(read no odometer).. but works for me in the desert (Polaris Trail Blazer/250).. and I'm really concerned about range.. I can easily cover lots and LOTS of miles in a day out in the desert...
I've been hauling a 2gal tank of fuel with me just in case...
I've been coyote hunting off it lately.. and it has worked GREAT.. I figure it couldn't be nearly as loud as my diesel truck.. and saving wear and tear on my truck to boot...
--Steve

Thanks Phil,
I usually bring a spare 5 gallon can on the truck. We hunt 1300 acres so there's no danger of me being more than about 5 to 7 miles from camp. (Those hunts that last more than 3 days may require more re-inforcements ) badger.
------------------
Keep the traditions alive, take your child hunting.....

My 2 stroke is only good for about 40-45 miles on a tank. Thats with the throttle opened up a lot. I take an extra 5 gallons for a weekend and about 3 gallons a day (traveling) on longer trips usually no more than 15 gallons. I usually drop the spare jugs in a strategic location.
My wifes Sportsman (4 stroke) gets much better fuel economy.
6X6
