Local gun shop has one in 308 Cal. Seller was unable to provide any useful information on it. Stock and barrel is in fair shape, somewhat neglected. Whoever owned it had very little knowledge (and class) about rifles. A cheap Bushnell Spotwiew scope is installed on top. Age of rifle has to be at least 20 years. Made in West Germany stamped on the side. Asking price is $850. Is it a good deal, or just pass up on it?

A quick search of the net for Sauer 90 prices shows them asking far more than the price you have.

Absolutely! Had a Colt Sauer Grand African 458 a couple years ago that I accidentally gave away for $1600. I see them going for over $3K now. Incredibly engineered rifless!

I did talk myself into it and bought it this afternoon. I think it will clean up nicely. SIGARMS Inc, Tysons Corner, VA is printed on the rear of action. Perhaps someone in the know can approximate the age of it by the importer. How do you take the bolt out? Don't see any bolt release in the vicinity I am used to. Thanks for all the help: pigster

It has been some time, but if I recall correctly, just pull the trigger all the way back while removing the bolt.

Congrats, the 90 and 202 are both nice, one front and other rear locking lugs IIRC. Both well mfg. Expect good accuracy if bbl not pitted.

She turned out to be prettier than I thought. The stock fits me nicely, palm swell is grand. I have to retract my comments on previous owner. The rifle is in top shape, very well maintained, bluing is still deep and spotless. The Bushnell scope must have been a gun shop switcheroo, because of the multiple layer of ring marks. Beyond that, reticule was so crocked to a degree that anyone could live with. Bolt cannot be removed by pulling the trigger.

Thanks for the comments. I still have to figure out how to remove the bolt, so I can take a peek inside the bore. If it shoots half as good as it looks, I'll be happy.

To remove the bolt on the Sauer 90 make sure it is unloaded and with the action open, pull the trigger back very hard about as far as it will go and withdraw the bolt.

Thanks Texasdude. As you said, the trigger needs a firm pull and the bolt slides out effortlessly. The bore looks spotless upon inspecting it with a bore light. I can't wait to get some decent bases and a scope for her. Any ideas on bases ?
