I just got my new 85 Finnlight here this past week and am mounting a 3-9x40 and bought a set of Leupold rings. Im wondering if any other Sako owners have used these rings and are happy with them? I know there are better but these are what I have at the moment. They look well constructed,my scope sits low in a perfect height but am somewhat worried that they are holding on a tapered dovetail which may equal some movement over time?? Im shooting a 30-06 so recoil is about average in terms of big game rifles.
Let me know your thoughts??
Cheers!!

Running the exact same rings on my Sako AIII with a Loopy 6x42 FXIII. No problems with the set up. Also ran them on a .260 Sako 75 Finnlight, with no problems.

YMMV as your Finnlight will have some more recoil as it's much lighter than my AIII Classic and .260.

I have a Sako Model 85 chambered for the .338 Federal. Recoil is somewhat more than for your .30-06. I have fired about 150 shells factory and handloads through this rifle in the 7 months that I have owned it during break in and load development. All of this using Leupold Ring mounts. My Leupold ring mounts are medium height and are mounts for a 5-15x42 (fairly large and heavy) Zeiss scope on the rings. I have had no problems with zero change or mount loosening.

I have Leupold ring mounts in low on my Sako 85 338 Federal and they work well. Have had no issue with them and recoil.

I have the same rings on two 85's. One in 7-08 and the other in a rebarreled to a 280 Rem. They work great! They sit lower than the posilock rings from Sako.

For me all of my Sako m75 and Tika T3 rifle have Leupold scopes mounted in the Sako / Tikka Optilock low rings and bases. Except one rifle has the Sak Optilock Ringmounts.

Very solid setups. Never lost a zereo setting.

I had a pair on my Sako 75 for a while, 10 shots was all it took for them to slip, recoil was the problem, 338 Winchester Mag. I when with a pair of Sako Optilocks and re sighted in and that was that.

If you study those tapered dovetails....they can only get tighter with every shot.

I considered having my Finnlight machined for standard bases. Should mine ever give me trouble just once, straight to the shop it'll go.

I have the Talley bases & rings. It's a pretty sweet setup.

Congrats on the purchase. "How sweet it is!"
