My buddy shot his biggest 7x7 Bull elk there by Laramie Peak. Great area in the past! Not sure as of late been years since I hunted it.

There's still big bulls but access is the problem. I know a lot of guys that hunt the area and most all will tell ya the same thing getting access is the issue.

Over-rated area and its been on the slide since the mid-90's. Was a great area in the past.

Too many tags given out for any kind of quality hunt. But, its an easy place to take a raghorn or cow.

Unit 7 was "the" area in the early to mid-90's...quite a number of B&C bulls came out of the unit.

But, in the last 10+ years not many...if any, B&C bulls have come from there.

I killed a cow on private land last year in unit 7, and the owner, who has hunted 7 for a long time made the comment that he didnt see a bull all season worth shooting.

Its just a function of too many eithersex tags being given out...too much pressure on the public land, and ridiculously high fees to hunt private.

I think a lot of people are hunting on memories in that unit...

I'd rank 7 about like an average general tag unit...I honestly think theres better hunting in many general units.

I agree with Buzz. I can show you guys some bulls at the local taxi that are awesome. You, me and the rest of the general public will never have access to those bulls. The access on the Peak flat sucks and the area is nothing but a G/F sponsored cow blast. There are better areas. Too many tags and the elk have been conditioned to blow to private at the first shots. I have heard rumors from a couple G/F employees that they are considering going general tag in the unit to lower elk numbers. That should work wonders....... Get the circus tents set up.... It wont happen, how else can we sucker people with a premium unit?

Raj, get maps, a gps and make damn sure where you are at.
