I'm heading for a new personal record when the polling booths open in November. Ford will be proud.

If you have time to look at the speedo, you are not going fast enough.

over 130 in a car, 68 GTO, 69 Chevelle, 71 Dodge Charger, 85 Porsche course going by the speedo and I don't trust them, but I could easily be convinced it was 130
over 90 on a snowmachine,
but I believe I was traveling faster going backwards in the the thick nasties while hauling my cooler outa the brush that a bear had just drug back in there about 1 a.m. in Valdez one time
if there'd been an Olympic event for going backwards in the brush with a cooler that year, you boys woulda got to hear the Star Spangled banner courtesy of yours truly.
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

175 mph state police radar 675 plus tail wind in a jet. 164 on a motorcycle once we were late to a meeting.
In a free country the government doesn't fear its citizens and there firearms. In a crocked government everything is up to be removed even the citizens if they truly believe in freedom.

340boy, I don't know, but on the ground it was on a bike -- maybe you can help me figure it out. The speedo went to 140 on a Suzuki GS1100 and the tach was still at 12:00 (I don't remember how many RPMs that was) but the tach would keep going long after the speedo was pegged -- clear to about 5:00. When you let off the throttle, you could feel lots of slowing down going on before the speedo dropped off 140. I'm guessing at least 180 mph or more-- what do you think a early 80s stock GS1100 would do?
I know a Datsun 280Z would bury the speedo at 160mph in those days too, but I'm not sure how fast they really went either. Jacques, hard to say, but I would guess close to 150-160 mph? Still plenty fast. As another poster noted, motorcycle speedos are usually very optimistic at high speeds.

182+ on my 2004 Yamaha R1. Same bike, GPS'ed at 177 with a nasty side wind, 174 on radar down the front straight at Spokane Raceway Park. A shot just goofing around at a more sedate indicated speed of 140: A little blury but this shot is aroud 159 or so: A picture of the slightly modified scooter:

150-ish in a car, facing forward driving.
I don't know how fast a big ole pig bazdard C5 goes full of cargo & troops but the part that counts is the fact that I flew around the world facing backwards in one.
Boat? not very fast, maybe 60.
Something clever here.

Car: About 130mph or so in my first car, which was a '96 Chrysler Sebring. Man did I beat the hell out of that thing. Also did about the same in a friend's Hyundai one day.
Bike: 135-ish on my friend's '08 GSX-R 600. A buddy of mine had a Hayabusa with a turbo and nitrous that he got rid of a while back. I'd almost like to see how fast that thing would move!
ATV: 60mph down an old railroad bed on a Polaris 600
Skis: Over 60mph I would guess.
Next time I go for a bike ride, I might have to take my GPS along to see just how accurate the speedo is.

Fastest I've driven a car was somewhere between 135 and 150 miles an hour. It was my '72 Chrysler Newport Custom with a 440 4-barrel, dual exhaust and a 323 rear end. The needle was about to go out of sight a couple of inches past the 120 mark when I eased up. She was still climbing. I shudder to think what would have happened if a deer had stepped out onto that two lane blacktop on that night in 1973.

About 140 in a '84 Nissan 300ZX turbo. Would like to have gone faster but I ran out of straight road.
