Does anyone know if Remington 1100's in 28 gauge and .410 bore are made on 1100 20 gauge frames or are they their own frame size?

To the best of my knowledge they are made on the 20ga frame. Just like the Remington 16ga guns are made on a 12 gauge frame. Kind of defeats the purpose when thinking of weight......

Yes, they are made on the same frame. The .410 is very heavy for such a little gun.

However, the 1100 in 28 ga is a really nice gun.
Good shooting!

I have a 1950s era 11-48 in 28 Gauge,it is not built on a twenty frame.
THe 28 gauge shotgun frames were used to develop prototypes for the Rem 740 and 760 rifles.
The 28 gauge frame continued atleast until Remington developed to LT-20 size frames for their 20 gauge shotguns.
I am not sure if late model 28 gauges used the older 28 frame or the LT 20 frame but I suspect the former.

A bit off topic...
Unfortunately the Rem. 870 28 & 410 are on the 20 gauge frame also. They are a little lighter due to less barrel weight. It would be slick if they were on actions sized to the shell!
Oh well

Sorry, my comment was referring to the current production 1100's.

I seem recall comparing an 870 28 to an 870 20 and finding the 28 frame slightly smaller. The 20 ga., 870's have more weight in the barrel because they come in 26-28 inch lenths. Ihe 28 comes in a 25 inch barrel. E
