I was wondering about this.... I know the New Vaquero's from Ruger have a ball detente to index the cylinder upon opening the loading gate. Does anyone know if the new Super Black Hawk single actions are benefiting from this same, incredibly user friendly innovation? After using Ruger single actions for a long time, I like em a lot, but absolutely hate the pain-in-the-neck ejection.

The only "part" I see in a "Ruger New Model Blackhawk and Super Blackhawk" schematic chart list, similar to your inquiry is:
Part #17, Gate Detent Spring

Too bad-it would turn a good gun into an excellent one.

I should add that the ball detente is a simple way to get the cylinder to line up with the loading gate. Early SBH's, and I had one, used to be the made on the traditional single action 1/2 cock notch, open the gate and rotate and poke. The so-called new models did away with the 1/2 cock. Now you just pop open the loading gate-but-the cylinder will not "click" when it lines up with the ejector rod/loading gate, so its a bit of hunt and peck. For a fun outing, no big deal, but when in a confrontation, you pretty much have your six to make it count-or else you have an expensive club. I was hoping Ruger did the right thing and upgraded the SBH, but it seems they didn't.
