I am thinking about replacing the original safety on my Turk 98 with a Gentry 3 Position Safety. I noticed in the install instructions for a Rem 700 action, they recommend replacing the striker assembly.

Trying to separate fact from up selling, would replacing my firing pin and spring, reducing lock up time, a make significant difference?

Also, what should the cost be to have the Gentry Installed?

Ask jkob about the safety installation. Taking a WAG I'd say $75 tops.

Huge difference for me. I have Dayton Tristar trigger and firing pin in M98 action. I bought trigger/pin combo, but you can replae firing pin only. Tubbs speedlock reduces lock time by 30%.

There is a down side to trying to speed up the lock time on a Mauser. Heavier springs cause the cocking effort to go up by a surprising amount. The Tubb firing pin lacks the safety shoulders of the M98 pin. For what it is worth, I charge $85 to fit a Gentry safety, and I am not making a bunch for the time required.

I didn't go with a different safety, but I changed out three model 98 springs to ones with higher spring rate. It does increase cocking effort, but I just deal with that.
Not too sure how much the lock time has improved however??
I do have aftermarket triggers in all of them.
The rifles shoot well, so I'm a happy hunter. grin
