Hi everyone -<BR>I need a 5 HP outboard to put on a small boat used for fishing & duck hunting. Haven't decided on a 2 stroke or 4 stroke, but it's gotta be no more than 55 lbs weight. Any suggestions? Thanks, - - Pointshoot

I have an 8HP 4 Stroke Honda which is outside your weight limit but it is the best damn motor I have ever owned. Once you go 4 stroke you never go back...twice the gas mileage...no more fouled plugs...quiet...environmentally friendly and reliable. Drives my 21 foot freighter canoe at 15 mph. Great motor!

Point - I see this post i quite old, but you wont likely find a 4 stroke in the weight range you want.
