I just picked up a Marlin Model 20A pump 22 rifle. It is in decent condition considering its age. It has a small chunk missing on the top part of the stock where it meets the butt plate which is curved. Everything else is in good shape and it is all there. Is this a desirable gun and if so what may it be worth.? I paid $150 for it. Thanks.

This pump-action rifle is a turn-of-the-20th-century design that proved to be exceptionally hardy. This is partially due to its solid frame and heavy octagonal barrel. The stock is a simple straight-wrist hardwood design. Variants include the Model 20, which could fire .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle interchangeably, and has a much longer barrel but only a half-length magazine. The Model 20A (also known as the Model 20AS) is a Model 20 with a somewhat shorter barrel, and more reliable safeties. The Model 25 is a "gallery gun;" it fires only very low-power ammunition.

In mint condition it would demand in the $350.00 range, as described I would guess you did all right.

This 20A has a 24 inch bbl. and is takedown. Is there a correct way to unload the rifle safely? Thanks

Pull the mag tube follower and let the ammo slide out, then hand cycle the round out of the chamber.
