I have a Remington 600 Mohawk serial # 6568785 coming my way. Can anyone tell me what year it was made?

Rich, I am not sure, but I think that Remington had a letter code stamped on the barrel. I am not sure on the 600's...then again I can be completely wrong! D.O.M

Hey Rich,
To help give you an idea, my Mohawk (243) has serial number 6744072. My Dad bought it new in December 1974 for my first deer rifle, which became my Christmas present that year. I killed my first deer with it almost 1 year later in my first year of hunting in Elk County, PA (Loleta).
Cool little rifles. Mine has been the vehicle for many kids in and outside of my family to their first deer. It has killed more than a few.
Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it.

The left side of the bbl at the action is stamped with 3 letters(equally spaced) and a number. The first two letters weren't stamped flush so are only partial but look to be an N(a guess) and a K(pretty sure). The third letter is an X. The number is 59. THANKS for the link.

rahtreelimbs - my .308 Win M600 Mohawk is SN 6669356 purchased new in 1974. On the barrel's right side, by the letters " R.E.P." is the letter "N" within a triangle. According to the DOM listing that makes its 'birthday' 1966. Problem is there are all sorts of letters and numbers stamped on the barrel so the question becomes 'which one is which'? Can anyone tell for sure where the DOM letter would be stamped? Regards, Homesteader.

The Mohawk 600 was only manfuactured from 1972-1979. Those marks on the right side of your bbl are probably proof marks. DOM marks are on the left side. Did you click on sactoller's D.O.M. link? GOOD info.

EZEARL - thanks for your response. No, I missed that link that gave me what to look for on the barrel. Left side is marked "FY E 1 (or I) 3 * space 6 D X 96". If I read the listing correctly my M600 was manufactured in "D-Sept"; "X-1973" which agree's with when I purchased it in early 1974. Right side of barrel numbers/letters matches exactly with the diagram. Appreciate your input and sactollers listing. Regards, Homesteader.
