The odds of me actually competing are pretty slim, but I'd like a stock that provides that option if I decide to. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Shehane Tracker Varmint (ST 1000 L)

I want a Tracker II for a just for fun gun. Hoping Santa can put one under the tree this year.

Call and talk to Bill . He has many stock styles for different disciplines.

Short range, 600, 1000 Yd? All of the different disciplines have different rules concerning stocks.

Probably short range, maybe 600. This is a 6BR.

McMillan Tooley MBR stock would be a good choice.

The Tooley MBR stock is a great piece, but it's not legal for either IBS or NBRSA Heavy Varmint classes (100-300 yd).

The Shehane ST-BR is a great stock. Other ones I've used and liked are the Bruno/McMillan pattern (available from Bruno's only), the Kelbly Klub and TM patterns (the TM has a long forearm) and the McMillan EDGE.

One of my BR rigs has a redwood and carbon fiber laminated stock by Tony Larson. These have a quite high stiffness to weight ratio and track extremely well. Here's a couple of pics in case you haven't seen one like this:

Hope this helps. -Al

This is a Borden stock. Not mine...this is a gun that Jim built. These are incredible stocks, but you may want to check with Jim on availablity. The Borden stocks have the nicest finish, hands down. Beautiful stuff.

Probably other images scattered around McMillan's site as well.

I have one for a Shilen.

Completely informal/non-registered shooting, so can't comment on legalities, but it sure is stable. smile

Thanks. Don't know how I missed that on McMillan's website. Doesn't look like a bad price if it's already inlet for my action/barrel.

The "Basic Inlet" is a good ways from being a "dropin".

I put a Savage LRPV action 6mmbr , in the Shehane, Tooley MBR stock. Rutland laminate. It complements the 26" barrel well but I don't think I want to carry it too far. Works for the local club matches though.
It came inlet for the action, bolt handle, barrel channel, recoil lug.
I drilled and pillar bedded the action to the stock.

Thanks Doc. I actually called Bruno's earlier today and was told the basic inlet is the action and barrel cutout. You have to cut the port, triggerguard, bolt, etc. That's more work than I'm looking for.

I ended up finding a used McMillan on 6BR.com and I'll give it a run to see if I like it. If not, I'll probably order up a Tooley MBR from McMillan.
