Thanks in advance.

After doing some research, it appears that the Left Hand Model 700's were introduced in the 1973 catalog.

Apparently 73' was the only year for the pressed checkering. I got a 700 in 270 Win. in 1974 as a Christmas gift from my parents and it is cut checkering. I've only ever seen one other LH BDL in an 06' that had the pressed checkering.

Need to replace the Scope and Rings on it, but it still shoots well and kills deer just as dead as any of my other rifles! That old Simmons Red Ring came on it when my dad gave it to me. which was over 20 years ago.

This thread brings back memeories! I was riding my motorcycle in Spring 1975 and stopped at a big local gun dealer. Was looking at the relatively new LH Rem 700's. I wanted to see one so I asked the dealer which one he had in stock. Have'em all, he said, which one do you want to see? I've always been one to want something different, so I said let me see the 7mm gun. He brought one out, cut the tape on the box open and pushed it towards me. I opened the box, saw the wood, threw the lid on the box down and said I'll take it. He said " Wow, that gun has beautiful wood." I made him write it up on the spot with that serial number until I could return with a car to pick it up. He did so grudgingly because he was also left handed. LOL. Made 12/74, Buehler scope mounts, Leupold 2-7 scope, most beautiful American Walnut Fiddleback stock I've ever seen.

And in early 1975 a middle manager in Ilion approached a packing/shipping clerk asking, Hey, have you seen that specially stocked LH Model 700 I ordered the custom shop to make up for me? Oops

No, I can't sell it, that was the 3rd firearm that I ever bought and I bought it new. My FIL saw the rifle and couldn't believe the wood. To this day, he maintains that someone ordered that stock on a Custom Shop rifle and they screwed up some dimension so that the customer didn't want it, so they just put the wood into the regular production line.
Could be, I don't know. Unbelievably, the other side of the wood has better fiddleback. It was just one of those things and I'm a total fool for nice wood so I slammed the top of the box shut and said, "I'll take it!" LOL.
