I have a Savage Predator DBM in 22-250. This is the only load I have ever shot in it.

55gr SBK over 37.1gr RL15, CCI BR2's, OAL to Ogive 2.095 which is a .005 jump, avg. 3725fps from the 22" barrel.

The last 3 shot group before the gun went into the safe was .156"

I'm running 8208 behind a 52 A-max. Chrony is showing 3850, but I'm leaning on it pretty hard. Ridiculously accurate

Haven't tried 8208. In a std or improved 22-250 case RL15 is the best I've used. Accuracy load in a Savage std. 22-250 is 37.5/50BT=3926.

The stuff is also real good in a 40X-22BR......accuracy load is 32.4gr/50BLK=3895

If you are looking at IMR8208 for a 22-250 you are looking in the wrong direction, it is the same burn rate as VVN133 that is close to the burn rate of RL7. great for a 6ppc or 222Rem.
For a 22-250 if you want to use IMR powder's try IMR4895,IMR4064 or IMR4007ssc

Only one person using IMR8208? I've heard others recommend RL15 and I bet it's a good one. But I live in the frozen north and need something that is not temperature sensative.

I've tried Varget with only one complaint, I just can't get the velocity out of it that is in any of the load books. Seems like I need at least 2 gr more powder to hit the published velocity. Few of my friends have had similar experience with Varget.

The reason I want to try IMR8208 is I like the high velocity I'm seeing in the Hodgdon/IMR site.

Well then, take one for the team and let us know the results. I can get scorching velocities with RL15 if I wish, but I prefer to run around 3500 fps with 52 grainers. Thats the sweet spot for my barrel.

The coldest I ever shoot in is above zero so I haven't seen how 15 does in real cold but I have read that alliant was trying to push RL-15 as a powder for the .223 in the military and one of alliants claims is RL-15 is one of their most temp. insensitive powders.

Anyone saying 8208 wont work in the 22-250 could not have tried it.

Hodgdon's max load behind a sierra 55 gr. blitz gave me 3750 fps and about 3/4 MOA @ -10C temperature..not sure what that works out to in F . (24" barrel)

Im supposed to have about the same velocity in the summer so Ill have to chrony again to verify. Im pretty sure R-15 cant give you that kind of stability...if its anything like r-22....you will need different loads depending on the temperature.

8208 is actually really close to 4895
