Hi all, Take a Knee is for sure going to respond to this thread I just shot about 10 rounds of the ATI 62 grain 223 ammunition at a target yesterday and it shoots worse than 55 grain XM193 regards accuracy. How does the PMC ($350 for 1000 rounds) compare to the Federal XM193????

Jimmy, I bought a lot of the 62 grain PMC in 2008. I have not done a direct range comparison with the 62 grain green tip LC stuff I have, but I don't recall it being much different in accuracy.

When you can get a 1000 rounds of XM-193 for $300, I wouldn't even consider Korean stuff over Federal. At the bare minimum, after you've fired XM-193, you have some of the best brass around to reload.

I agree, the XM193 ain't bad ammo and is almost affordable again. M855 has got to be the worst performing ammo out there.

OK, For $300 I will look for some Fed XM193. Funny thing we have an abandoned bushhog on our lease with the deck rusted out. The 1/2 steel flat plate connecting rods could not tell a bit of difference between 55 grain XM193 and that ATI 62 grain ammunition with the steel pin core at 25 yards. Then the stuff shot a 4 inch group out of a 2 MOA 10 shot rifle, glad I did not buy much of it...

The 62gr "penetrator" fails miserably. It's not available but to a select few but M955AP is the real armor piercing ammo.
M855 sucks.

Here, I'll be nice and make it easy for you, even though you gave me a hard time in the 6.8 thread http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=FAXM193BK&src=tpSlrHm

Thanks! I enjoy these arguments and we each learn from them, if nothing about guns then about human nature! There is no end in sight to our individual preferences, and yet we all are the same....only different.

Arguments? I thought they were discussions. Heck I'm as opinionated as they come but even I learn a thing or two now and then. I'll still take my 77gr SMK's, if I need something bigger it's gonna be much bigger, like a 243AI with 85gr TSX's Here's some pretty solid info btw, I wonder how the 100 gr would match up? http://www.gandrtactical.com/images/archive/5_56mm_military_info.pdf

I only get around three loads before I have primer pockets getting too loose. PMC brass is tougher, IMO.

At one time, PMC had a plant outside Vegas, (Henderson) not sure if it is still , what they made, and how much of their production is US made.

...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....

XM193 is loaded in Lake City brass, I know it's ran by Federal but the LC brass is totally different than Federal's own.
On another note, I just ran the last 2 mags of XM193 I had today. I've shot quite a bit of this stuff without issue but have decided to just roll my own MK262 clone load for all my shooting. It's easier having 4 AR's zeroed with the same ammo for all purposes.
