I've shot them well from Remington and Ruger rifles with 24" and 26" barrels. Used Reloader 22. Good accuracy, good velocity.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering how slow/fast a powder to go
in the shorter tube.

Hey buddy,

I found this while I was snooping around online. Think it might help with loading the 168 Bergers.
Here is the website:
http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?p=430322

Here is the part I found that might help in finding a load:

"Hi,
Thanks for the information. Load data was generated using Quick Load a 26 inch barrel a COAL (cartridge over all length) of 3.290 inches and your COAL and velocity could be a little different.
AS WITH ALL RELOADING APPROACH THE MAXIMUM LOADS WITH CAUTION AS ALL RIFLES AND RELOADING TECHNIQUES WILL BE DIFFERENT. If YOU CHANGE ANY OF YOUR COMPONENTS; THIS INCLUDES DIFFERENT POWDER LOT NUMBERS; YOU MUST REFIGURE YOUR LOADS BY STARTING WITH THE MINIMUM LOAD.

If we can be of any additional help feel free to contact us.

Thanks for your interest and have a great day.

Okay so I tried the H4831SC at 61.5 grains and got 2650 fps With an AD 12.2
63.5 gave 2754 with an AD 29.2 and put two shots in one hole with the other 1/4 inch away. Bet group of the 3.

Third load was 68.0 of Ramshot Magnum. it shot a 1.5 inch group but had 2792 in velocity and an
AD 3.4 and
ES of 7.6 and
a SD of 4.4

going to try some more of each and bump the grains slightly.

In 2010 I hunted with 7mmRM 180 VLD moly, 70 gr Re22, 3.48" jammed into the lands, 26" barrel, 3025 fps average.

I got 3 mule deer.

QL calc'd....

101.4% load density, 72759PSI (SAAMI max spec is 62366; only 16.5% overpressure....)

70 grains of RL-22 is a max load for a 130 grain bullet: http://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...ight=130&shellid=73&bulletid=120

Only about 9 grains (nearly 15%) over the 175 grain GS max load: http://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...ight=175&shellid=73&bulletid=128

QL projections on your COAL plus moly put max at 66.8 grains.

Clark, do you ever load anything to a level that isn't approaching hand grenade status?

Yes, I know ever rifle is it's own story, and yes, I know that you think you know more than anyone else out there, ammunition, powder, firearms, bullet, and reloading manufacturers included...

But, your "data" is going to get someone hurt.

Hopefully, it will just be you, but I doubt it.

I really don't think that quick load is that great of an indicator for velocity and pressure. That said I think that 3000 from a 7mm rem with a 26 inch pipe is pushing things...
that said I haven't reloaded for the that particular rifle so I can't say for sure.
